I don't mind SP's at all really. They give you more reason to build culture buildings even when not going for a culture victory. I'm just not keen on them being a substitute for civics. I see no real reason we can't have both in some way.
I've only played through two games so far and while it's not bad, so far I prefer Civ 4 but at the moment I'm putting that down to having to get used to the new game. There's a lot of things I miss from the previous game, most of which have already been mentioned (especially the tile...
From what I understand, the people that own the game can make their own tracks and sell them, hence the amount of DLC available. Sort of like creating a mod and selling it to those that might be interested. Must be a very niche market though.
If it comes with any heavy handed DRM I'll give it a miss and stick with Civ IV. Not a bad thing as I still love that game.
Mind you, I'll probably buy the game through Steam anyway. Much more preferable to disks for me these days.
I've three candidates. Gondar is my main production city at the moment but will have plenty of cottages eventually so will be commerce heavy at some point. I'm thinking that could be the capital but Lalibela doesn't look too bad either.
I have to admit I've never moved the palace elsewhere before but since I'm on a drive to really learn the nuances of the game I thought I'd ask if this was a prime candidate for a move.
It's food heavy so I thought it would make an ideal GP Farm but it's quite poor for production. If I...
You might want to trade for some happiness resources too. If you've got three cows or corn or whatever, you only get the benefit from one of them so you may as well trade the others away for something you need.
What promotions are best for transports, destroyers and missile cruisers ?
Naval warfare is one of my biggest weaknesses. I never know what's best for them so tend to promote them down the combat line.
A simple one, but someone (Bleys ?) gave some advice to those wishing to step up to Noble :
Ignore the scoreboard.
I was so used to being ahead on Warlord that I had a hard time adjusting to being behind and would quit. Once I ignored the scores (and being behind in tech) I found it was...
Back in 2001 I borrowed Civ II from a housemate. Didn't know too much about the game at the time and his room was a total tip so he couldn't find the manual, so I had to try to learn on the fly which wasn't easy. My housemate couldn't help as he'd only installed it once, saw how bad the graphics...
That's my problem. Although I only managed to get my very first win on Noble last night.
Even then it was the Wang Kon Nobles Club game and I'd read a few spoilers beforehand
I wouldn't like these traits as standard as I wouldn't like to feel like I'm being railroaded into playing a certain way.
Could be fun to play once in a while in a mod though.
