Anyone practice lucid dreaming, otheriwise known as dream control? I've been doing it for quite a long time, but I dont have much control over it ( I go with the flow)

Sounds creepy, dude. I hardly ever dream, but when I do, they are often thrilling experiences in one way or another!

Could you perhaps explain how this 'works'? :)

(1) You have a dream.

(2) During the dream; you realise you are dreaming.

(3) You think "I should be able to dream about what I like."

(4) You dream think that I'd like to dream about that model....
getting a home run.

(5) You dream about that model... home run.

Done it three times. Still wake up at exciting bit.

but the most amazing is when you say (in your dream) "I want to fly!"
and you do!
:goodjob:

cool dreams! never want to wake up!

I know what NetGear is talking about. Basically you realize that you are dreaming while you are dreaming. Once you realize this, you can somewhat control what you dream about.

Its not really something concious you do though.

For example. Say you are dreaming that you are sailing on a yacht. All of a sudden, it becomes a space ship. Well, this clues you in that its not really happening and its a dream. Then say you want to change the spaceship you are riding in. Well, since you know its a dream, you can make that happen.

I have done it once, I had a dream I was running away from some people but my legs were only moving at half speed. Subconciously I realized it was a dream. Then I thought, "Its a dream, I will just fly away". And that is what I did.

 You beat me to it

I used to get those a lot when i was younger. I liked them that much i used to try and work my mind into them before i went to sleep. It took me ages to fall asleep, but it improved my chances of it happening.

Sometimes you'll have complete concisiness in your dream, and will have the ability to change the surroundings etc.
I remember one time a girl that i was going out with was talking about getting these flying dreams, and i said i never had one but would love to have one.
That night i had a really strong lucid dream were i was in complete control. I put myself on top of a cliff and jumped into a cloud. I never hit the bottom, but ended up on a road running up and down it taking off and landing again. I'll never forget it.

You kind of go in and out of conciseness or awareness that you are in a dream world. Very rarley do you have control for any real length of time.

  [dance] [dance]

I am completely concious, but I have yet to master total controls, or amount of control that my friend who introduced me to lucid dreaming. Also, alot of the time I experience a 'false' awakening, which is basically me thinking I woke up in a dream. Then I continue to dream normally unless I re-realize I have not woken up.

Alot of time I am so concious of fear of waking up if I try so hard to control my dream. Is this natural? are there any pros out there that can help me out?

BTW I've tried a model thing once too. It's not as fun I thought it would be. I prefer flying if I can.

Jesus, that sounds veeery creepy, guys. Tell me, are you on drugs or something? :D

Never been able to control my own dreams, gee that sounds weird - but it could be nice, anyhow. :)

You dream everyday, but you just dont have the ability to recall what you have dreamt at the end of your sleep. If you practice it though, you can get yourself to recall dreams everyday. I can recall 5 dreams out of 7 in a week or so by now, but I'm not consistant yet. :p

No, its something you can do if you practice.

Though I heard with proper use of drugs you can enhance the amount of lucid dreaming you have (like marijuana), but its more likely that you will prevent it than help it out.

You probably had a lucid experience as well, but even if you did, your chance of remembering it is small if you cant recall your dreams. (Memories are flushed after each cycle of dream state)

No, it has nothing to do with drugs. Its also not really creepy either. It is only mental conditioning. Just like when people begin to panic. If you know you are panicing, you can mentally "step-back" and calm yourself down. It is the same type of thing. You "step-back" from your dream and try to get yourself in a new mental state.

No; but coffee and cheese - last thing before bed - helps.

I think I'm not emotional enough, or something; because why can't I dream on command, like you guys?

Sorry, but how can you pratice when you're unconscious?

But yeah, I used to be able to dream a lot, and subsequently recall the event - that be everything from somekind of pseudo-erotic moment or a disaster experience! :D

Latest lucid dream I had was pretty boring cause I couldnt control much of it.

I spent most of my time walking around in my own room and experiencing my dream state. I read books, clocks which all proved to me I was dreaming. I floated around to see if everything was in place, which wasnt and I woke up when the gravity was cranked up real high.

Another issue: how do i control gravity? that thing is SOOOO annoying.

it usually happens to me during periods when i am stressed and have to be observant, and it is really annoying because when the dream ends you wake up from the sleep. however, i have found that i also can fall asleep in the dream. i usually try to find a certain person (in the dream) to sing a lullaby for me, it's amazing how well and realistic the brain can get a dream person to sing. :)

there are also limits for what i can do. if i try to do too incredible stunts my brain will say no and the dream ends, but changing the enviorment doesn't it have any problems with for some reason.

there was a guy (a german professor i think) who created a method to obtain dream controll. you have a book that you always wear with you and often read from. then when you are dreaming you will also dream from the book, but the text won't make sense and you will discover that you are dreaming.

i wouldn't advice anyone to try it. it's just cool the first times and the sleep is far too important.

Instead of simply ignoring your dream, try to write them down as soon as you woke up from a dream. Adn try reading them from time to time. It doesnt have to be really detailed, even outline of what happened is better than nothing, if your too tired and want to go back to sleep. More detail is better though. Also, try to write down something unusual and mentally tell yourself "i wont be tricked by this one again". Thats how I got to where I am, and that how my friend told me to do it. If there is a better way anyone else knows, please do tell!

Also keeping a regulard sleep cycle helps. I notice if I have a consitent sleep hours, then I consistently have lucid dream at 6 in the morning.

Its not really "dream on command" its more of "when you do start to dream, take control of it"

I feel much more refreshed waking up from a lucid dream. Since if your lucidating, your in your REM state. Beside lucidating and not lucidating doesnt have any difference in how much rest you get. Your brain is constantly active and firing off signals when you sleep, which converts to what we know as dreams. Lucid dreaming is simply being able to control these signals to what you want it to be.
