New viability with melee centered strategies

I am just wondering what new strategies (preferrably on emporer+) that you have found to be successful after the patch. I haven't been able to use jaguars, janissaries, or the vikings, but I bet they would be even better now and would like to hear some strategies you guys have implemented with the new mechanics. I know the Japanese are pretty sick now as their units last much longer.
