Final Fixes Reborn

Loading a game is not exactly stable. Some things that help me:

- reboot
- delete cache (C:\Users\NAME\AppData\Local\My Games\Beyond the Sword\cache)
- start game
- look at some pedia entries
- load save
- good luck

If you played a different (or no) mod you need to start a play now game to reset hidden variables.
 
I'm also using Windows 10 and it does work (more often than not) if I do the paragraph 1 thing.
I just turned a new leaf toward windows 10... and I have a few graphic issues : (somes skellies that appears as normal swordman...etc).

any tip for that (do you encounters those issues ? / will I need to re-install cIV from scratch ?? or only FFH2?)

Empyrean is weak compared to RoK and Order. Its soldiers aren't that good and come too late. The religion also lacks a champion like disciple unit like the crusader or the paramander although from a lore perspective it can be understandable. The main problem with this religion is that it brings almost no economical advantage which is very strange since it's a religion that praises wisdom, reflexion and tolerance. Except CoE, every religion of the game gives you something to boost your economy if you choose it as your state religion. I think that Empyrean should have a strong labor or economic civic and a building to boost your economy because at the moment everything the religion has it's his only (but very good) hero and his high priests.

re-FOL : I think that Bloom is too time and mirco-consuming to be really interesting, especially in larger maps, or when you conquer enemies ; further there is a bit of unreasonnable lag-time between new-forest and full forest. further, bloom, for non-elves, cannot be casted over improvements, so the production boost is lowered.

could it be the frozen animation thing or another graphic option messing up ? apart from that, i'm not sure. try deleting the xml and art part of the mod and updating.

hmmm, though the real surprise here is : Bhall is Sid Meier. that's an important piece of lore i didn't know about.

More seriously, i have no clue what's happened here. I assume the Random leader option was turned off ?

The random leader option was turned on. Both the civilization and the leader were assigned by random. Select "play now" and accept everything. Did not change any settings. And I did not save the game. Only took the screenshot and quit. :mischief:
 
Are there any files other than mapscripts and Civ4WorldInfo.xml I'll need to edit to add support for more map sizes? I believe most of the compatible mapscripts already have support for up to two more sizes (or at least tried to), but I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something that FFH or one of it's modmods added. (thanks for all the help over the past few days BTW. I appreciate it)
 
Yesterday I noticed that most of the mapscripts included in Ashes of Erebus (except ErebusContinent and WorldOfErebus) come from a very old version of MapScriptTools, modified to make it work with Ashes of Erebus. In comparison, the version that I am working on (available here http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?p=14401165#post14401165) contains a lot of fixes and improvements from both the original developer and me. These include two new mapscripts (including one that allows to launch one of the others, chosen randomly), restoring the chosen map options for each mapscript the next time they are loaded, new map options and other things.

I have released a new version that is compatible with Ashes of Erebus and also includes all of these features. They also generate kelp and reefs. If you decide to try it, backup your Assets/python/MapScriptTools.py file. The new mapscripts are the ones without numbers in their names (so Erebus_mst is new while Erebus_107b_mst is old). If you want to go back to the previous mapscripts, restore your MapScriptTools file. Let me know if there is something that doesn't work :)
 
And if you're one of the elven civs there's no real reason not to go for it when you get +1 hammers/commerce on every tile due to ancient forest. Of course, being unable to put lumbermills on ancient forest isn't exactly great but for lore reasons is entirely understandable.

Though of course I would hardly object to FoL getting +1 hammers or commerce on camps, particularly hammers as currently camps reduce hammer production on their tiles. Something to give the non-elves a reason to take it.

There was a ModComp a while back that allowed building lumbermills in ancient forests, but I'm sure it's not compatible with the current version of AoE. And anyway, I wasn't able to find i to on these forums, plus don't know if the team would want to incorporate it.

I know it's possible to have lumbermilled forests turn into ancient forests (still with lumbermills) but that does require the player to be distinctly quick off the mark.
 
I got the following errors on a recent game, reloading doesn't work either.
The screenshot is from when I met the Calabim (the first civ I'd met), and the traceback is from when I reloaded the save. The diplo screen comes up but there's no options on there and no way to get rid of it.

I've also tried playing with an assert DLL build and there's loads of errors about units, and some about an "ix shouldn't be lower than 0" or something similar, not sure whether they're causing any bigger issues though?

The immortal promotion is lost when the unit is reborn. It works once. It has been that way since FfH2. No reason to change anything. Suggestion: Close the bug.
 
Are there any files other than mapscripts and Civ4WorldInfo.xml I'll need to edit to add support for more map sizes? I believe most of the compatible mapscripts already have support for up to two more sizes (or at least tried to), but I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something that FFH or one of it's modmods added. (thanks for all the help over the past few days BTW. I appreciate it)
i don't really know, to be honest. Try modifying those and see if that works.

Yesterday I noticed that most of the mapscripts included in Ashes of Erebus (except ErebusContinent and WorldOfErebus) come from a very old version of MapScriptTools, modified to make it work with Ashes of Erebus. In comparison, the version that I am working on (available here http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?p=14401165#post14401165) contains a lot of fixes and improvements from both the original developer and me. These include two new mapscripts (including one that allows to launch one of the others, chosen randomly), restoring the chosen map options for each mapscript the next time they are loaded, new map options and other things.

I have released a new version that is compatible with Ashes of Erebus and also includes all of these features. They also generate kelp and reefs. If you decide to try it, backup your Assets/python/MapScriptTools.py file. The new mapscripts are the ones without numbers in their names (so Erebus_mst is new while Erebus_107b_mst is old). If you want to go back to the previous mapscripts, restore your MapScriptTools file. Let me know if there is something that doesn't work :)

I've also tried playing with an assert DLL build and there's loads of errors about units, and some about an "ix shouldn't be lower than 0" or something similar, not sure whether they're causing any bigger issues though?

Thanks for that log, i haven't been able to replicate the diplomacy thing but i might be able to debug it thanks to that. As for the errors appearing with the debug dll build, they're mostly benign (some of the code thinking that some of the new code is actually a bug). I'll clean them up when i have some time Also, Welcome back, jemon, how have you been ?

svn 286 allows the capture of animal heroes. Subdue beast work on them like any other beast unit.
if i remember correctly, before that they were able be captured by Subdue Animal, which was an issue. I don't have an issue with them being Beast-Subdued

Not only ironclads but all naval units can capture animals. Useful captures include sea serpents (chained water drakes) and griffons/rocs. No bug there.

Confirmation: Aircraft can indeed capture forts. They can also explore lairs. And go through a portal. Which separates them from the carrier. Suggestion: Do not allow aircraft to perform any such action.

Bannor Carrison Captain has access to useless(?) promotions Woodsman I and II.
Those promotions are not useless. Bannor might capture a fort/castle/citadel from elves with forest in the tile. The promotion prevents obscured line of sight.

The immortal promotion is lost when the unit is reborn. It works once. It has been that way since FfH2. No reason to change anything. Suggestion: Close the bug.
I think the report is more about the different forms of immortality being described ingame in exactly the same way, making it unclear which immortality is removed after one death ( the promo one) and which one isn't (the unit one)
 
There should be a log file created somewhere in the bts folder when an OOS happens, if you can get me that file, i can look into it.

Thank you for your proposal. Funny thing is, that I tried for several times, but the error seems to happen before a log is created. - Again with 14.11 I get a log for every ooc, but not with the svn.
 
BUG report (svn 286)

Subdue Beast on a mana guardian Elk. The unit keeps the mana guardian promotion. It can teleport to the capital. But the ability to move around is limited. It is not limited to one tile but in highly erratic ways.

Either remove the mana guardian promotion when the beast is captured or make sure it cannot move away from the mana resource in any way even after capture.
 
I haven't tried the SVN, so apologies if you've already done something with this.

I would suggest maybe re-thinking the Silver Circle. Two possibilities come to mind:

1) Make it a Guild, with the Alchemists being able to spread it automatically. Once it expands into a new city, allow that city to build an Enchanter's Enclave.

2) Make it a National Wonder instead of a World Wonder. Once you build it, then your cities can build Enchanter's Enclaves.

(I think I prefer making it a Guild rather than a National Wonder.)

The reason I suggest this is that, unless you're playing as the Mechanos, the Alchemy tech is pretty useless, devoted solely to the possibility of building a World Wonder.

I don't have strong feelings about this, just thought doing something might make sense.
 
Two guilds cannot compete for one resource in a city. So changing the Silver Circle to a guild affects existing guilds.

Having to build all Alchemists (and, by extension, all Enchanter's Enclaves) in a single city makes you think twice about where to build the Silver Circle.

I certainly agree that you have to think about where to build the Silver Circle for maximum benefit. I just find it tedious to have to manually select the cities to which you're sending Alchemists to build Enchanter's Enclaves, unlike having units spread Guilds automatically.

Maybe make it a National Wonder instead? So Alchemy's a useful tech? And as I suggested above, once you've built it, then it enables the ability to build Enchanter's Enclaves in your other cities?

Or keep it a World Wonder but get rid of the Alchemy tech and move the Silver Circle and the various Mechanos units to other techs?

i'm quite unhappy with both the Guilds and the Silver Circle as they stand so it's something i'd like to revisit. (They don't really offer any interesting reward or mechanic and they don't feel really linked to anything lorewise).

I haven't thought much how to rework it yet but i'm tempted to remove the guilds as they are, and use that system for secondary cults ( the Emrys, The Stewards of Inequity, The Unblemished, The Saperes, The Foxmen, The Occis (not a definitive list, just the ones i have in mind right now). I'd repurpose the master buildings inside a stronger economic building tree with maybe a bit more specialization and potentially repurpose the effects of guilds that way.

Anyway, that's not a short-term goal so we'll see when we get to it^^
 
on the subject of guilds, i see that the balseraphs can build masquerade wagons. since all bal cities automatically have masquerade these must be meant to spread it to other civs. what benefit does it give to the balseraphs?
