Cabral discovered Brazil for Portugal around 1500.

5 European powers and 3 AI for the Indians.

Special rules : same as AoD (cf http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=85808) so no war in Europe and no advanced tech-trading with natives but natives will get some improvements in their cities (in Cortez they proved quite weak) and resources will be RELOCATED to avoid eploitation of map knowledge !

You can express your wishes for civs :

Players :
- Provolution
- WarningU2
- Gnarfflinger
- Qummik
- Semental

Civs

- England :

- Spain :
-----------
- Aztecs : AI
- Incas : AI
- Iroquois : AI

Two organization rules to follow :
- the GPS return mail rule
- send me your password after your first turn (it will be saved and untouched).

Post in this thread if you are interested and please give you playing times in GMT. For instance 15-22. Your time zone is not enough as some play in the morning, some play during the day and some play at nights.

I'd be interested. Prefer the English. Second choice is Spain. I don't play during the day other than on the weekend. Normally play PBEM before I go to work in the morning or in the evening before I go to bed. -5 GMT.

I try Spain this time around, with Britain as number 2.

@ Provolution : please state your playing time GMT-wise.

@ all : I will probably randomize the civs to avoid people choosing good civs.

Straight CET, the ideal European time. Please do randomize them all.

@ semental : have you played PBEMs before (like on another site for instance ?) or were you asked to come here by someone ?

For normally people we don't know start by playing a newbee PBEM as a way of checking their reliability.

@ Provolution : that still does not tell me at what time you play... (morning, evening, entire day,...).

You damn right he did!
Though, and sorry in advance the off topic argument, I dont believe too much in the lucky factor.
You see the history says he discovery Brazil when he gets out his line navigation to India, because of a Storm. I am more keen that some guys already had discovered it before, pherhaps Portuguese fishers or navigators, and then he go there and get the title.
I think the very truth has always something like that, one gets the job, other get the money!
That is why, before that expedition, Portuguese crown negotiate with pope and spain the world division (howe about thaT! the nerv of that guys in that age! Dividing the world!)
In that way Portugal had managed to secure a revision of the pope's original demarcation of the world into Spanish and Portuguese zones of exploration. Certainly the Treaty of Tordesillas (1494) adjusted the former line and put Brazil in the Portuguese zone.

Well the only exception to that rule - one do the job other earn the money and fame, - was Cristovao Colombo. But that was because he knew so bad of world geography that, his very poor and completly wrong theory to get India by west, just give him a new world that no one was expecting of! (though, again, there are some proofs that lead to the scandinavs and others folks visited America before, that had no relation with the Cristovao Colombo Voyage).

Concerning the game, I guess I would love to try one day this scenario in pbem, (specially with this competitive players) but i guess I have to resist and decline it right now.
I pass from a zero pbem game to a handfull of pbem games in a month, so, right now, I just have pbems all around of my brain (Chanceler Xerxes of Austria, Claudillo leader of persia, nelson... ah... no claudilo is the lider of spain, and xerxes is the one that leader persia, which persia will play a main role in the wwii ... or wanst that?!--- Geeezzzz) :crazyeye:

I have been playing for a couple of years with friends PBEM. I like the format but we have been getting a little too nice to one another. I have one game going that should end soon (month or so) and have played this one by PBEM and would like another go at it. I am starting another traditional with my normal group but that takes forever to wind up.

This sounded interesting. If you need a player, I game, if you feel it is a risk. So be it. I like your set up but not really sure how it plays out here - rules and all. I am sure I can work through it but it is your game after all.

If this one isn't full, I'd be interested...

@Qummik, can you send me your e-mail by PM.

edit : And welcome to CFC, just realized it was your first post here !

Not sure you will be able to join this PBEM but anyway we will find you one, don't worry.

@ Semental : can you send me your e-mail by PM.
I will let the other players decide. You can be perfectly reliable, it is just we don't really know you yet. In case it does not work for this PBEM, we have other ones starting pretty frequently.

edit : welcome too since your 3 first posts are here as well.

Ok, your fellow experienced players seem OK so you are both in.

Remember this is a long term project and that you will get your reputation as a PBEMer on CFC in this game... Not to scare you away, just in case you have second thoughts, now is the time to withdraw.
Otherwise welcome in the community ! (we always like fresh meat :p) !

Some are the food, some do the eating.... :)

I do not know when you plan to start. As it is I do travel once in a while and as it is, I will be gone Monday until Tuesday evening GMT-5 so 13:00GMT or so. Normally, I can pass a turn off but as you are just setting it up, it could delay things a day on my end. Sorry if this is a problem.

For those Canucks on this I get to Ontario on the odd occaision, although I would prefer to do it in another time of year.

Semental. :(

What part of Ontario? I'm about 90 minutes out of Detroit...

I know. You're about 45 minutes from where I am...
