Nat'l/World Wonder Combos

Curious if any Immortal/Diety players ever break out of the norm of combos like TGL+NE+Oxford or HE+Ironworks with success? Last game with boudica I tried dumping all my generals (4), west point and globe theater into a city with hills pig, farm, green horses and a few green mines. Food was solid and so were hammers. I was able to draft lvl 4 riflemen nonstop and produce CR3/barII cannons every 4 turns, good fun that led to a 1640 domination win on large/immortal.

Just curious if anybody else has any wacky wonder stories!?
 
Do most people really put HE in their Ironworks city?

The only time I did that was when I really needed a steady supply of ICBMs.
 
Yes and no.

A lot of people (seem) do it because they already put HE in their high production city and they're playing Epic or Marathon, meaning units aren't being made every turn without Ironworks.

Other people prefer to put Ironworks in a high production, waterside city with Moai and Dyke (if playing as Wilhelm) to spam battleships.

And other people have their own reasons for putting Ironworks where they want. Usually, it is to get a second unit spamming city.
 
Huh. For me, Ironworks is usually in a riverside production city, if I want a chance at Three Gorges.

Yep, exactly the case for me on Epic speed. Subsequent cannons still take 2-3 turns apiece until assembly line, plastics and state property. That can get tanks/armor, mech inf down to 1 turn in an epic game without a military academy.
