I started posting this at WPC, but thought I'd post here as well. :)

New game, Rome, Epic, Continents, Standard Map, King (for fun more than challenge, I usually play on Immortal).



 
Starting position:



Food, stone, horses, elephants and bananas all in range of the initial city. I'll move south one to bring the elephants into ring 1 as it's 2f/2p/1g. Starting on Astrology and Code Of Laws. Building a slinger.

Turn 1-10:

T1: Rome founded.
T6: warrior gets xp from a goody hut.
T10: finish Code Of Laws. Enact Discipline (+combat versus barbs) and God King (+faith and gold in capital). Started Foreign Trade.

 
Turn 10-20:

T11: Slinger finished, start scout.
T12: Rome grows to 2. Met La Venta.
T13: Gold from a goody hut.
T16: Met Pericles, Writing eureka.
T19: Scout finished, start settler.

 
Turn 20-30:

T21: Met Geneva.
T22: Met Preslav, Political Philosophy eureka.
T23: Met Barbarossa, scout from goody hut.
T25: Astrology finished, start Mining. Pericles tells me to leave CS's alone.
T26: Foreign Trade finished, start Craftsmanship.
T28: Rome grows to 3. Met Zanzibar.

 
Turn 30-40:

T32: Found Torres del Paine. Archery eureka (thanks slinger).
T33: Found Tsingy. Oh why couldn't I have found one of those like 15 turns ago!
T34: Mining finished, started Animal Husbandry. Barbarossa tells me to leave CS's alone.
T35: Faith from goody hut.
T36: Met Saladin and located Athens. Founded God of the Forge Pantheon. Mysticism eureka.
T37: Settler finished, holy site started. Bought builder.
T38: Met Seoul. Quarried stone.
T39: Ravenna founded, slinger started. Farmed rice, irrigation eureka, completed La Venta mission. Pericles cracks it as usual.
T40: Pericles has an unescorted settler floating around, warrior gives chase.

 
Turrn 40-50:

T41: Craftsmanship finished, Early Empire started. Enacted Urban Planning (no need for +1 faith now, so change it to +1 production). Greek settler now escorted by a slinger. :(
T43: Animal Husbandry finished, Archery started. Built camp on elephants with final charge.
T44: Barbs are bashing up the Greek settler's escort. Keeping warrior close.
T45: Escort essentially zero health. War declared on Pericles (no monger penalty). Warrior kills slinger and takes settler.
T46: Warrior to escort settler to a nice location on the river between Zanzibar and La Venta.
T50: Achery finished, Pottery started.

Turrn 45:


 
Turn 50-60:

T51: Rome finished Holy Site, State Workforce eureka. Early Empire eureka from goody hut finishes it, State Workforce started. Colonization enacted (half price settlers). Rome starts a settler.
T53: Arabian trade appears from the south towards Rome and answers that question.
T54: Freddy is happy with my Govt choice and founds Catholicism with Stonehenge. Cumae is founded, starts on an archer.
T56: Accepted peace with Pericles. Pottery finished, Writing started.

Hey, got a free settler for no damage whatsoever to me and a forward base, and gives me a little more time to get to legions before I have to smash them. :D



T58: State Workforce finished, Political Philosophy started. Conscription enacted (-1 unit maintenance).
T59: Wheel eureka from goody hut.

 
Turn 60-70:

T61: Writing finished, Bronze Working started.
T63: Cumae finished archer, settler started. Freddy and Saladin send me delegates.
T64: Bronze Working eureka (barb warrior died attacking my scout). Rome builds settler, Shrine started.
T65: Last turn to declare a no-penalty war. Declared war on Saladin.
T66: Classical Era! Political Philosophy completed, Oligarchy Govt. Charismatic Leader (+2 influence) and Agoge (+50% towards melee and ranged) enacted. Freddy doesn't like my Govt choice now. :( Mysticism started.
T67: Bronze Working finished, Iron Working started.
T68: Rome purchases archer, Machinery eureka.
T69: Cumae finishes archer, settler started. Arabia's army decimated by my archers.
T70: Mysticism finished, Inspiration (+2 Scientist points) in place of Conscription. Drama and Poetry started. Envoy sent to Geneva.



 
Turn 70-80:

T71: Freddy extends the hand of friendship. We become friends....... for now. Puteoli founded and starts archer, Sailing eureka.
T73: Scout put on auto-explore as entire continent pretty much mapped out now. Except Arabia, which I'll use archers and warriors (later legions) to map out. ;)
T75: Rome builds Shrine, settler started. Peace refused.
T77: Arabian settler captured.
T79: Peace refused.
T80: Barb camp cleared (finally got one not stolen by CS's!!!!), Military Tradition eureka.



 
Turn 80-90:

T81: Met Victoria who floats on the water in a strange craft. Peace refused.
T82: Iron Working finished, Currency started.
T83: Drama and Poetry finished, Theology started. Envoy sent to Geneva.
T84: Puteoli builds archer, starts on legion. Mercenaries eureka. Barb camp money. Peace refused again.
T85: Antium settled, starts archer. Goody hut gold.
T86: Damietta captured with builder, starts Monument. Freddy pays me for Open Borders.
T87: Peace refused. Arabia starts building Oracle with my army on their doorstep. Sometimes the AI really is stupid. :(
T88: Rome builds Settler, starts trader. Battle of Cairo begins with archery bombardment.



 
Turn 90-100

T91: Peace refused. And I tread on England's face on their loyal waters or some such.
T92: Cairo taken with builder, see you bye Saladin! Monument started. Pericles and Viccy think I'm a war monger, Freddy still friends.
T94: Currency finished, Horseback Riding started.
T95: Theology finished, Games and Recreation started. Lugdunum founded, archer started. Envoy sent to Geneva, suzerain status gained. Freddy not happy about that.
T98: Ravenna finishes settler, Commercial Hub started. Freddy like my Govt choice.
T99: Rome finishes trader, Commercial Hub started.
T100: Antium finishes archer, Commercial Hub started. Ostia founded, archer started.

So how am I looking after 100 turns? Cumae is about to finish another settler which I'll found near Rome so I'll have four cities feeding IC's into Rome later. My goals for the next 50 turns is to get some CH's up and more traders feeding Rome to start snowballing it. I'm going to aim at taking Greece and Germany as well so my continent truly becomes MY continent! I'm on the verge of a Prophet so religion is coming up. After getting IC's I'll move back to the top of the tech tree so I can explore outside of this rock I'm on. As well as the 5 Greek/German cities, it looks like there's only another 5-6 settling spots.







 
Turn 100-110:

T101: Viccy finishes Oracle. Horseback Riding finished, Apprenticeship started. Cumae finishes settler, Commercial Hub started.
T102: Freddy Friendship Finished.
T103: Games and Recreation finished, Recorded History started. Barb camp gold. Siddhartha Guatama born in Rome. Simba religion founded in Rome. Missionary bought in Rome.



T104: Simba spread to Puteoli.
T106: Simba spread to Damietta. Pericles whinging about some archers near Athens..... didn't really hear as I was ignoring him.
T107: Mediolanum founded, archer started. Puteoli finishes legion, Commercial Hub started.
T108: Simba spread to Antium. Aryabhata born in Cairo. Education eureka. Aryabhata eurekas Military Tactics, Celestial Navigation and Construction.



 
Turn 110-120:

T111: Viccy says my cities are too close.... even though she's on another continent (stupid AI)!
T113: Recorded History finished, Defensive Tactics started. Lugdunum finishes archer, Commercial Hub started. Envoy send to Seoul. Cumae bought builder to help chop CH's in that area.
T114: Cleopatra sails past.
T115: Medieval Era! Apprenticeship finished, Irrigation started. Cairo finished Monument, Shrine started.
T116: Reformed Church eureka as Simba naturally spreads. Irrigation finished, Sailing started.
T117: Sailing finished, Celestial Navigation started.
T119: Celestial Navigation finished, Shipbuilding started. Mathematics eureka. Rome finished Commercial Hub, trader started. Formal war declared on Pericles. Cleo think I'm a war monger for some reason.
T120: Battle for Athens rages. Ostia finishes archer, Commercial Hub started.





 
Turn 120-130:

T121: Athens falls with builder. Military Training and Feudalism eureka (Athens has an encampment and farms). Athens starts Monument.
T123: Defensive Tactics finished, Civil Service started. Viccy denounces us.
T124: Cumae finishes Commercial Hub, Trader started. I am worthy of Cleo's time.
T127: Rome finishes trader, Temple started.
T128: Shipbuilding finished, Mathematics started.
T129: Damietta finished Monument, Commercial Hub started. Peace refused.





 
Turn 130-140:

T131: Pharsalos is taken, Monument started. See you bye Pericles. Ravenna finished Commercial Hub, Trader started. Freddy calls me a war monger.
T132: Mediolanum finishes archer, Commercial Hub started.
T133: Mathematics finished, Education started. Cumae finishes trader, builder started. Lugdunum buys builder. Formal war declared on Freddy. Settler captured.
T136: Civil Service finished, Divine Right started. Setia founded, archer started.
T138: Rome finishes Temple, Industrial Zone started.
T139: Freddy gains suzerain of La Venta, La Venta declares war on us and Geneva. Cairo finishes Shine, started Temple.
T140: Education finished, Mass Production started.





 
Turn 140-150:

T143: Hamburg captured, Monument started. Envoy sent to La Venta. Freddy loses suzerain status, peace made with La Venta. Peace refused.
T144: Rome purchases missionary.
T146: Athens finishes monument, repairing Granary. Simba spread to Ravenna. Setia buys builder.
T147: Battle of Berlin begins.
T148: Divine Right finished, Feudalism started and Monarchy enacted (added Conscription [-1 unit maintenance] and Retainers [+1 amenity with garrison]). Castles eureka. Cleo hates my Govt choice. Simba spread to Cumae.
T149: Rome finishes Industrial Zone, Granary started. Puteoli finishes Commercial Hub, trader started. Lost my first archer unit to barbs!
T150: Ravenna finishes trader, Industrial Zone started. Berlin is captured, Monument started.
