What do you think Civilization Revolution 2 will be like? (if they make another one) Please post your ideas:)

There won't be one. Civ Rev didn't sell too much, therefore it's a bad investment to create another one. If they would be creating another one, it will probably be the same with less bugs, more civs and you'll be able to choose the map type. That's my guess.

What're you basing on that it didn't sell too much? I am pretty sure it sold better than they expected, making it a success. I think there will be a Civ Rev 2, but it will be years away, probably not even for this generation of consoles.

As seen here, Civ Rev sold around 400,000 thousand copies, which is pretty for a non-big release game. The problem, is that Civilization predicted that they'd sell 600,000 copies, and spent a lot of money on advertisement. It sold very well in North America, but sold poorly in China, Japan and Europe.

This thread was supposed to be about ideas of what it would be like, not weahter or not it is going to be made.

The game hasn't been released in Asia yet I don't believe. Supposed to be released 12/11 in Japan. Hopefully it'll do better there.

A few things... First, can you link to your source? Secondly, I can predict that I'm going to sell 86 trillion copies, but if I only sell 50 trillion, I've still made myself a tidy profit irrespective of what was expected. Look at it like this - 60 x 400,000 is 24 million. I realize that Take Two does not keep every single dollar for a game sold and that money must go towards the production of the game and advertisement, but according to Take Two's earnings report, they credited Civ Rev with helping them out financially.

I'm going to trust their earnings report over let's say VGChartz which I hope wasn't your source.

If they made Civ Rev 2 I think the current mechanics shouldn't change. The combat side of things is great. They should just add a few more units that I missed from previous games (i.e. helicopter). Apart from that, I can't think of much else for them to do.

Here's what I think they should do with Civ Rev 2:

1. More camera abilities. I'd like for it to zoom out a bit more.

2. Upgradable units. I hate that I still have Legions when I just researched Steam Power.

3. More than 1 main infantry unit per era. I.e. a rifleman and a calvary for industrial

4. A longer game. I like to take my time, not just rush everything.

5. An option for less aggresive AI. I hate that AI are always saying give us ____ or we will attack.

6. Bigger maps. On Civ IV, 98% of the games I've done are on huge or large maps maps.

8. BRING BACK THE WORKERS.

9. More units, specifically UU's. I think each Civ should have 10 UU's, though that might be a bit high. I also think there should be more units than any Civ, but that likely won't happen.

I would also like bigger maps and less aggresive AI. Also I want to pick what type of map (i.e. Continents, Pangea). Move civs would also be cool. And I don't think Napoleon should be the face for Civ Rev 2 either ;p, go Genghis lol.

These numbers are not at all accurate.

I have more ideas for a wishlist than what I actually think will be implemented. Here:

-Pirate Barbarians. They navigate in galleons or galleys, never come on land, don't form fleets and keep the uncivilized bonus. They give you gold or a new ship/boat if you win or something. Maybe a caravan on the boat you just attacked with?
-Air support. You have some bombers or fighters stacked on your units and you get into a fight. They should help you out, right? Like naval support, just air support.
-New units. For example, aircraft carrier or helicopter. Aircraft carrier holds like a couple wings of fighters and refuels them, good defense, low attack, can go really far. The fighter wings can help defend them, and another AC is the best way to take one down. Or a bomber wing with some fighter escorts. And the helicopter, it could carry some troops and be a good offender. Just some ideas.
-An option with other leaders to move through their territory without starting a war. It can work backwards onto you too, and you could set an amount of turns it's allowed for. I always get so annoyed when I have to start a war to travel through ONE SPACE and then try and peace the leaders over again. And naval just takes too long. Which brings me back to helicopters, air transport!
-More civs, of course. Like Native Americans(specific ones, I just can't think of which one I would put in), Persians, Carthage, Phoenicia, just to start.
-Historical scenarios. American Revolution, Battle of Thermopylae(with the persians added in), fall of Rome, World Wars, anything you can think of.
-A scenario editor to create anything you can think of. =P

Just some ideas for now. I remember thinking of more before in class with my friend and writing them down, but I think I've lost the paper.

The above ideas, I think are all great.

I would not like to see workers back in the game. Would be hard from a UI perspective on consoles I think. The higher speed in the game, is preferable.

Better AI and opportunities to for alliances/open borders would be a great addition.

I hope that a CivRev 2 will be launched but I highly doubt it. Unfortunately it seems the game has sold too bad to justify a second edition. In addition, 2K/Firaxis has huge problems to get money from us who bought the first game due to all the late releases, bugs, glitches, and other things they handled in such a bad way.

I hope we'll see another game as well. Is there any information out there though which indicates the game sold poorly?

Until proven differently by Jon Shafer himself (he claimed a few posts above your post that Kadazzle´s data was wrong) you can probably see Kadazzle´s statement above as a fact.

We did also have a specific post about this earlier and I looked up some sales data myself and found the same thing. The game sold fairly well, but really bad compared to the money Firaxis spent on marketing and on bug fixing (to my knowledge). Without an official statement from Firaxis we have to trust our judgement.
