I just came back to civ recently after 2 years or so away and some of these posts must be outdated since I try to learn about different trees through this forum.
Commerce gets mediocre rating in this thread

but I notice that the author does not include mercenary army.
Was it added later?
So with mercenary army how good is commerce tree now? A lot better? Was anything else changed?
