It's definitely Germany. The leaders list had Bismarck, Attila, Napoleon and the BNW crew (I believe.) That and, as someone mentioned, 'Create German Artifact' makes it without a doubt, Germany.

Don't think so. The Artifact is German because the Germans plundered the Barbarian Camp that became the Archeological site, not because it is (or isn't) within Germany's borders.

There are German borders around it, but the archaeologist isn't German even though the artifact is German. The archaeologist looks Portuguese from the colors

Well it looks like a very dark green border and a main creamish colour.
Looks Turkish but as already mentioned, it's too dark.

I can't tell . . . but that looks like a modern / industrial era truck caravan for overland trade routes . . . spot the camel on the side of the truck.
