First strikes

I'm sorry in advance if this has been covered elsewhere, but i've been really unsure of how much affect they have.

Apparently first strikes give you a slight bonus in combat odds. A samurai (2 first strikes) attacking a maceman (0 first strikes) has 63.8 % chance of winning. As someone who generally ignored first strikes this seems quite a big improvement from 50-50.

Does anyone anything else because i'm still undecided.

it can be realy good in combat, u chould take out part of the unit without puting ur self in danger *unless it ignores first strikes*

hears my question, can fist strikes work when your atacking or just defending?? or both?
