I've joined the Army

One would have thought — a Swede especially — the Danish army to be a pretty safe place...;)

But these days, who knows?:crazyeye:

So take care!:)

As we'd say in the navy, "Fair winds and following seas" :salute:

And remember, in boot camp if you think of the team first and follow orders without question, you'll escape relatively unscathed. :mischief:

Welcome to the brotherhood. What will your MOS/Job be?
Basictraining followed by Sergeant School. I got accepted into the school after two days of testing. Of course they can still keep me out if I screw up during Basic, but I don't count on that.

Well we have troops in both Iraq, Kosovo and Afghanistan. Have taken casualties in all three places. But yeah, it's safer than in the American Army for instance.

What can I say but congratulations and happy killing ;)

Good Luck! Perhaps I'll run into you in Iraq or Afghanistan.

Stor, the people salute you, have fun killing those evil murderers. And thank you!

Good luck. *Salute*

Welcome into the drone factory where your only option is yes sire...how can a human beeing wish that, i dont get it.

Good luck! And don't worry, according to every account I've heard, basic training is way easier than the popular conception and the only reason people say it is so hard is to sound manly!

Good luck, good sir.

I'm thinking about joining the Army Reserve (I'm a frightened little girl :p) when I'm around 22-23. What I don't understand (being under 18) is that when people have an interest in joining the military, people think that means signing up the second they turn 18. It's foolishness to automatically assume that. Besides, with a college degree, you enter as a Specialist. And everone knows I am outrageously special. ;)

Don't worry about basic. If it is anything like America's, (judging from what countless soldiers have told me) it is about 5,000,000x easier than the popular conception.
That is true, Fifty. Now, it is always better to be over-cautious and a little bit frigthened than expect everything to be easy, in any situation. Everyone thinks that drill sergeants are abusive ***holes, and that training is hell and also abusive. R. Lee Ermey and Full Metal Jacket have instilled a negative image in most peoples minds. It is rough and things are strict, but purely to keep you alive once you are in combat.

oh also keep this in mind. I tink it is a quote from Patton.
In war your job is not to die for your country, your job is to make some other poor bugger die for his!

actually, the quote is: "The object of war is not to die for your country, but to make the other poor [expletive deleted] die for his."

That aside, I wish you good luck in the military and we hope to see you back here sometime in the future.

Few wackos burn several Danish flags in the Middle East and you've already joined the army ??!!?!

(j/k) ;)

Just came home for the weakend. I have slept 8 hours in three days, and now Im going to sleap 16 in one :D

It's pretty good. Hard, we had 13 dropouts in three days in my company, but what the heck.
