K-mod Deity Fun -- Collaboration of SGOTM teams

I hope either soundjata or pomthom could take a set as they have not played. If no one volunteer, I could try to carry the game over a bit to see if we could survive this war. Still my priority goes to SGOTM19.

@drewisfat

The problem of this war is how to deal with Sury's reinforcements, a bigger SOD is more difficult to handle, so I would rather separate them and let them attack to merge.

The way I know working is to block his SOD behind the mountain. We could send the current archer in capital to 2S in this turn. Next turn, since we whip the settler in capital, we can free the warrior and let him go to 2S as well. Therefore the only tile that Sury's SOD can pillage is the farm tile north of gold city.

This is basically what I'm going to do and we will see what Sury's SOD will react next.

Worker direction

worker in copper city mine, another worker road towards stone city

City build

Capital -- Whip settler next -> archers non-stopping
Copper city -- whip granary -> OF to warrior ->will also whip a WB at size 2
Gold city -- finish galley we need it to transfer archers

Let's see if we can survive.

sgotm eats so much time (and thoughts) that it's really hard focusing on any other Civ games ;)
I wanted to play that Nappy deity gotm, but could not find the energy..so i can totally understand why this project here rests for now.

We could resume the game for now.

I'm still waiting for the technique support for my PC. The funny thing was that the technician sent me a cheap, unworkable video card and then tried to convinced me that he actually sent me a better video card.

Pomthom, or soundjata, who has not played a single turn, do you want to take the role of saving the glorious Chinese ancient Empire or wave the white flag.:mischief:

Other SGOTM players and teammate (doshin), this game really needs your help!:D

Ok y'all, shall we get this over with? :D

We can open borders with De Gaule now.

Darius has his stack next to us.

Go ahead and play.

No one 'cept Folket replied so I just went on with the 2 turns.

The Sury trap worked!

So what's the plan now??

Darius has crossed our borders to settle our spot. But we'll be quicker:

Good job starting the game again!
Some unsorted thoughts:

If the stack won't move, we could buy peace in a few turns by gifting a city (on ice) away?

Building a few more archers and a couple of axes (after a barracks in Nanjing?) and then attack the stack is another option.
It is going to be costly for our finances though.

Currently, commerce/expenses is 39/20.
Despite the fact I have no idea which way to go research wise, how are we going to generate beakers? Maybe the first step is to build a library and use them specialists?

A work boat is required for the new city in 4 turns. It can be 1 pop whipped in Nanjing in 3 turns.

If Darius declared now we'd be toast... Any reason to convert to Judaism asap? Heard that AIs can declare even at friendly in this mod?

Guangzhou (Goo Ang Jaw) warrior should go on a scouting mission shouldn't he? Even a scout would be quite valuable now.

Warrior 1 must move 1NE now.
Because if a forest/jungle grows on the tile we want to settle on, we are screwed

Sorry for silence in these days, PC just got fixed today.

Looks like soundjata gave some good suggestions. I'll take a look at the save tomorrow. Would be nice if there's a plan to comment.

One thing I'm sure now that it's good time to convert to Darius religion this turn.

T81-85 mini PPP draft

Apart from Beijing, I have renamed the cities to make it easier:
Spoiler :

Convert to Judaism now.

I think we should start building a Library in Sweet Copper. This would be a good place to get our first GS ; troops will come out of Beijing and Ice Bullion which are closer to the front.

Not too sure how to handle Sury and what builds to plan in Beijing and IB... Ideas?

Send Lonely Stone warrior to scout?

@soundjata: don't understand the move Warrior 1 in case jungle pops story. In any case we wouldn't be screwed I think, we have a 1 turn margin since he is aiming at the same spot

Beijing should keep on archers, simply for survival. Not sure whether to focus on hammer tiles or food tiles to whip another settler for the wheat site sooner.

Not very sure about gold city build, either wall (waiting for stone bonus saves hammers but increases risk on defense) or monument.

Copper site should try to connect the copper as soon as possible, that means some adjustment of the worker micro near new city.

Question: what to do with the Galley until next settler?

Not too sure how to handle Sury and what builds to plan in Beijing and IB... Ideas? -> Archers in Beijing and Monument in IB (Duckweed also mentioned Walls but I'm not sure: if Sury doesn't have the odds to attack he won't and continue towards Beijung right?). I'd favour hammers over food in Beijing over next few turns, getting out the Settler sooner should be justified only if it can be escorted to the Wheat + followed by a Worker to improve it (but that may be possible, I didn't do the math). OTOH are we considering gifting a city to Sury in exchange for peace?

I ran some tests with random seeds to study k-mod AI's warring behaviors. 3 archers are enough in the city, and 2 archers in a hill are enough to deter a 5 units SOD like that, sometime even 1 is enough. The situation is going to change when the reinforcements arrive, the original SOD will attack in order to merge with the reinforcements. As far as I can see, defending and blocking with archers is the only and most economical way in current situation.

Sury's stack will stay on that tile until the reinforcements come. If the defense on the gold hill is weak, the stack will try to attack and merge with the reinforcements. Therefore, the wall in gold city helps with the defense.

I'm not entirely sure about the condition of his attack.

I'm not sure whether it's a good idea to use a settler for temporary peace. As Manco Capac mentioned, AI will still plan to attack the same target during the peace treaty. One way to deal with Sury is to delay his pace to Construction by continuing on the war.

Edit: One thing about city build is that capital should start a warrior before connecting the copper so that it could produce a spear immediately. We need at least 3~4 spears for defense in city and blocking tiles.
