Hey, is unemployment insurance considered to be welfare? If so, I've been the recipient of welfare on two separate occasions now.

To some of the more radical libertarians, yes. Their philosophy is if you are broke, you starve. It's an extreme form of capitalism.

Laws vary state to state. So you'd have to look up what the Alaska law says.
