Saw the intro video, alt-tabbed the opening screen, starting my game now....
 
I just played 70 minutes. Have to break, so I can get some sleep before work (about 4 hours or so).

I was in ... still not playing because my fricking resolution wont set to anything decent.
 
I have played to around turn 150. I am enjoying it. Definitely one more turn feel. Polystralia harmony. I have stayed away from most previews so its pretty new to me. Liking the strategic nature that techs + choices push your nation into certain directions. So your nation specialises one way or another whether energy/culture/production/covert ops/might etc etc. you cant have it all.

havent seen much in the way of diplomacy yet.

Apparently everywhere except America gets it early. An effort to be politically correct, I guess?
 
Well, not quite. Australia didn't get it until 4am on the 24th, whereas the west coast of the US gets it at 9pm on the 23rd. Given the advertised release of the 24th for both, it seems it's the US (and some other places like India, which also got the game on the 23rd) that gets it early.

You could try setting the resolution in the .ini file maybe? May want to ask over in the Tech Help section at this point.

And 2K just posted this:
We are aware of reports that some players are having issues getting Civilization: Beyond Earth to play in full-screen mode on their monitors.

After investigating the issue, we have discovered that monitors with a refresh rate of 144 hz cannot display the game full screen at resolutions above 1280 x 720.

A workaround is to switch the game to Window Mode and run it at the desired resolution.

Regardless of arbitrary dates, some people got the game unlocked earlier than others. Zone 1 got it first, then 2 and in a few more hours 3 will.

But it's not about political correctness, but rather trying to get the game out everywhere around the same local time on October 24th.
 
Played for 100 turns as PAC - way too much micro for late night play. I have to manage 20 trade routes at this point, up to 30 once I have the autoplant quest. Nope, nope, nope. I'll start a new game tomorrow.
 
I've played about 110 turns with Franco-Iberia, going to bed now because it's past 3AM...

I'm having a good time but I'm playing horribly. I chose a low difficulty level (Vostock) so I still did take a city which was fun, up to leve 5 in Supremacy so I'll get to robots soon !
 
It is unpacking now (9:03 PM PST). Color me gone for a bit... :D
