After seeing Monthar's post my settings probably aren't the highest they can be. I have been having the sound and video issues mentioned in the support thread.
Wonder what my laptop does. It's Windows 10 DX12. Not as powerful but it does have the latest software.

CPU: i7-6700 @ 3.41 GHz
GPU: GTX 1050Ti
RAM: 28 GB DDR4 2133
Average Time: 15.55s

Watching the performance in task manager, looks like I need to justify to my wife that I need a new CPU

Cpu: i7-8700k (3.7ghz)
GPU: 1080ti 11gb
Ram: 16gb 3.2
Samsung pro 960 m2 ssd

tested on dx12

2560x1440 max graphics 144hz = 12.19sec
2560x1440 max graphics 60 hz = 12.12sec
1920x1200 min graphics 60 hz = 11.65sec

Interesting to see that graphical settings impacts (slightly) the AI benchmark, even with a 1080Ti. That being said, quite happy to see my good old 3820 still hold its ground in 2160p, the 1080Ti help him a little certainly but still, it's solid results.

Just looking at the scores between mine and similar PCs, it doesn't seem like video card makes much of a difference.

While that 3% difference didn't seem like much in the benchmark, keep in mind the benchmark looks like it's on a small or tiny map and is in single player. Now imagine how much longer those times will be on the larger maps and/or in multiplayer.

I'm wondering how important it is to have good graphics card, since all the best results posted here, have pretty good graphic cards as well.

Decided to try it with my laptop.

Older I7 tu42xx or something
980m
32 GB DDR3 1600
I don't know if graphics have any effect but this was at 1080p
Score: 16.29 seconds.

CPU - Xeon x5670 @ 4.4ghz w/ h110i
GPU - Sapphire R9 390 8G
RAM - 16gb DDR3 @ 1600mhz
MOBO - Asus P6T

AI Bench - 13.61 @ 1440p max performance/memory impact

and of course I would be remiss to not point out that this platform and processor are over eight years old. Also, six cores are well utilized by Civ.

I also just upgraded from an i7-920 which gave the following:
18.90 @ stock 2.67ghz
15.45 @ 3.8ghz

i5-4670 3.4GHz
GTX 970 3.5GB
24 GB DDR3 @1600
This system has only solid state drives (3 Samsung EVOs)

15.73 seconds turn time.(dx12)
Seems about average (for this thread). I will be upgrading my PC in the next year or so, as I built this girl in 2014 an she's starting to show her age ...

This is from a year ago. IDK if the AI benchmark has improved much with R&F, the patches and driver updates...or maybe my machine is much slower than many of yours?!

2.8-GHz Intel Core i7-6700T
16GB RAM
1TB 7,200-rpm HD
GTX 960 GPU (4GB of VRAM)

I got curious why my benchmark was so much weaker so re-ran the AI benchmark ->

Result: 13.37

So either the actual benchmark has been updated or AI turn times have improved considerably since 1 yr ago. Anyone know for sure?

It’s about thread handling, they are doing more parallel actions than last year from what I have seen using perfmon.
