Not to suggest anything, but you don't really have to burn good imagination on what amounts to a very simple experiment.

Mucus membrane is mucus membrane, and toothpaste that irritates mucus membrane doesn't get repeat sales. I doubt that it would do much of anything, ultimately.

Every toothpaste I've ever used burns my mouth. If I put too much toothpaste on, my tongue and gums start to tingle like they are numb, though they don't get numb. I've always assumed that this was true for everyone, and that is why it is hard to get kids to brush their teeth. (Well, that and that it tastes disgusting, too.)
