for inspiration, amen

Welcome to SilliNES. Please leave logic and restraint at the door.

This is an open playground. A fresh start, so to speak. Please, go ahead and post. Relax. Establish canon. Set technology. Establish Characters. Build nations. Brew Conflicts. Declare war. You’re job is to have fun, and if you get “silli” doing it, more power to you!

Spoiler Some Ideas :
If you want to manage a single nation? More power to you! If you want to manage several allied nations? More power to you! If you want to manage several rival nations? More power to you! If you want to write about individuals or non-state actors? More power to you! If you want to write about other player’s nations? You want to write summaries of the situation? More power to you! You want to write about technological advancement? More power to you! You want to manage the calendar or a timeline? More power to you!

MORE POWER TO YOUUUUUUU!

So what is my job? I’m here to “moderate”. That’s all. Or, that is to say, I’m here to manage interplayer interstate conflict, draw the map, and wtflolpwn powergamers. That’s probably it. Everything else is free for you all to build and destroy!

Spoiler Some Examples :
Player C claims to have an army of several million in an Renaissance Setting. WTFLOLPWN’d. Player C writes about mobilization, then about having an army of several million in an Industrial Setting, with a country the size of Russia. ACCEPTABLE. Player M claims that a certain nation advances technology every year and steals all other technologies easily. WTFLOLPWN’D. Player M arranges for a certain nation to be in the middle of various tech exchanges and industrial fairs, letting it quicker access to new ideas and inventions. ACCEPTABLE. Player L proclaims that a certain region’s natural resources make him the obvious superpower and goes on to claim vast tracks of land, including that of other players. WTFLOLPWN’D. Player L writes about how the resources are utilized in the past and present and how they are leveraged to gain additional power. ACCEPTABLE. Player S claims all humans have Morgan Freeman’s face. WTFLOLPWN’D. Player S claims an Otter-worshiping fanatical theocracy. ACCEPTABLE.

Oh yeah, I’ll play too. Don’t worry about me. If I powergame I’ll wtflolpwn myself so fast…

GUESS WHAT? JASON'S MAP IS BACKKKKKK.
Spoiler :

Here’s the World. Note: You want to change the map? POSSIBLY ACCEPTABLE! Add Atlantis? POSSIBLY ACCEPTABLE! Delete Greece? POSSIBLY ACCEPTABLE!
Go wild!

Spoiler STARTING GUIDELINES- BOOOOOO! :
Instead of earlier where each player is all powerful, every post is considered to be a suggestion. The more a post’s content is referred to the more valid it is. Also, instead of players declaring the world to be at a specific technological level or world, each player’s created state would have their own desired tech situations which can be worked to fit. I wish for a multipolar world if possible. At this point, the main focus should be world building, and not creation and resolution of events. Every week or so, I shall quote all “canon” posts, with reservations as I see fit, and link them below for easier access. Everyone is welcome to aggregate their preferred “canon” and their own descriptions: if I like I will quote aggregates in preference to individual posts. Generally, physics will remain the same. Magic, magitech, steam punk, aliens etc etc whatever all all acceptable!

This NES is dedicated to Creativity is not really my thing, What? You expected something well thought out , and The Invisible Hand.

This NES is also dedicated to Daftpanzer, Amon Savag, and RTOR of all stripes.

May Creativity be celebrated in all its shapes and forms in this Thread. Amen.

YOU MAY POST.

In with an Aragon + Occitania + Northern Italy place.

Rest after this AC mission.

In with Swabia (Baden-Wurttemberg, Switzerland, Bavaria).

Scandanavia-Baltic Sea-Jutland/Denmark.

1800s great, though I am more than happy with a fresh start.

Claiming the Glorious Aztec-Diadochi Occult Socialism Party, currently in control of the Glorious Aztec-Diadochi Empire.

I don't know maybe Alexander the Great conquered the Aztecs or something.

1800 seems fine to me.

Phoenician City-States (Phoenician League):
Area: Phoenicia, Cyprus, Carthage
Cities: Carthage, Kition (in Cyprus), Sidon, Tyre, Sur
Army: Pretty up-to-date, armies vary by city.
Navy: Very strong. There is a slow naval buildup going on, with each city trying to outdo the others in naval strength.
Culture: Relatively strong. Even though there are distinct regional differences, all of the cities share the same culture, language, and religion (the Phoenician Pantheon). The cities are also a major destination for artists and musicians, due to the patronage of the wealthy families there.
Economy: Reasonably strong.
History: A long time ago, Carthage and Rome got into a war over possession of Sicily. Carthage won, gained control of Sicily, and Rome was forced to make massive amounts of war reparations. Later, Rome started a second Punic War, spearheaded by a young, brilliant general nicknamed "Scipio Africanus", but after another brilliant Carthaginian general, Hannibal, captured Rome, and then beat Scipio Africanus in Italy, Rome never dared to challenge Carthage again. At its height, Carthage controlled most of Spain, all of North Africa, most of the Levant, and even a few parts of Anatolia and Greece. However, the Carthaginian empire crumbled in 476 AD when it was sacked by barbarians from the Sahara, and several prominent Phoenician city-states formed out of the dust. At first, they fought each other, but when a new threat known as the Arabs attacked them, they all banded together, and the new Phoenician League won several battles, protecting them from Arabia when the rest of the Middle East fell to them. For the next few centuries, they were independent rivals, yet still banded together in the face of a common enemy. In the mid-1300s, there was a cultural revival in the interest of the old Carthaginian Empire, and a new renaissance emerged. The arts became a major part of life compared to the old days when the Gods were the most important part of life. In the mid-1400s, the Phoenician League was economically and culturally the most influential civilization in the Mediterranean, if not the world. They traded with the Far East, and their ships were exploring beyond the Mediterranean. Two major events changed everything. First, in 1453, a major war erupted between the members of the Phoenician League, with Carthage and Kition fighting Sur, Sidon, and Tyre. At first, it looked like the Sur-Sidon-Tyre alliance would easily win, as they captured Kition nearly immediately and quickly besieged Carthage, but then Carthage destroyed the other armies with guns traded from China, and they quickly liberated Kition. They then attempted but failed to take Sidon, and Kition was recaptured from Carthage. However, a massive offensive by Carthage took the other three city-states in 1492 and finally ended the war. However, all five nations had their resources, militaries, and economies drained to the limit. The second major event severely weakened the main pillar of their economy, which was trade with the Mediterranean and Far East; the New World was discovered in 1492. Afterwards, the League had to fight off foreign powers to retain their independence, and their economy and status as a major power never truly recovered. However, a second Great Awakening of Phoenician culture and religion started up in the 1750s, and now the League is starting to regain its prominence.
Stability: Relatively Stable.

The history can be altered a ton if it interferes with anyone else's nations. The basic premise is that the Phoenicians managed to survive up to 1800. If the whole idea of Phoenicia in 1800 doesn't work, I have other ideas...

I think mine will have been heavily influenced by both burgeoning Rome and Carthage, seeing as they border both.

Everything is acceptable, all are suggestions until I canonize them in a couple of days. However, the more connections between posts mean the greater chance that connected posts will be canonized, and I will prefer to canonize summaries with links over the original, if only to save space.

The above is not important whatsoever.

I'm in I'll have something up soon (probably tomorrow) but for now I call an area on the east coast.

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland

Controls: British Isles

Capital: Edinburgh

History: Later, I have way too much homework to even be doing this for a minute :p

Interested in this iteration more than the first. China (Han China + Xinjiang + Manchuria + Guangzhou (etc) + Mongolia + Russian Manchuria but not Tibet!)

I have interest of join.

I would have gone with the glories of the Imperium of Man... but since the Isle of Man is claimed I will plot plan...

I will be working out a nation in a bit, just expressing my intent to join and the possibilities of what I join as. I will thinking of something silly... perhaps more silly then the idea of the Isle of Man being centre of a empire. ;)

In the time being I may be considering France (beginning at the least around Paris), either as a conglomerate, a empire, a collective of communes, one big commune or a order of templers that shout "HERESY" every other hour.
