For those that don't know, a Palindrome is a sentence whose characters are in the same order forwards as backwards. Punctuation need not be the same... you can break up the characters with spaces, commas, colons, periods, etc.

Here are some examples:

At noon, ta!

Am I mima?

A man, a plan, a canal... Panama!

In French it's "Esope reste et se repose."
In the Guiness book of records, the longest one is 200 thousands characters(!!).
In think it fished like "beer is best I know" or something like that. Yes, approximately 200,000 characters.

Detartrated is one.
Racecar another one.

Here are some other examples. http://cs.winona.edu/Francioni/cs250/longPal.html http://members.aol.com/gulfhigh2/words5.html

Holy cow! I had no idea Palindromes had gone so far. In school, I remember we were trying to think up some Palindromes, which is where the idea for this thread came from. I remebered the one about panama (in my examples) from a long time ago.

A rock band's name is also a Palindrome: ABBA.

My pearl of wisdom:

<u><FONT face="15"> GO HANG A SALAMI I'M A LASAGNA HOG! </FONT f></u>

It's simply too complicated.
<u>I DON'T LIKE RAW FOOD! </u>
I am not liable for any silly mistakes I make here.
Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

I don't remember where I got this from, but I wish I'd come up with it. It's definitely the most elegant palindrome I've ever seen:

Are we not drawn onward, we few, drawn onward to new era?

One that I remember from years ago is

Able was I ere I saw Elba.

(It's also a word-symmetric palindrome)
