How random is Random AI civ selection?

Yeah, I don't mind it either. Was just curious how the selection worked. I find it much harder to play friendly civs only since they often tech/wonder whore much more than the warmongers. I recall having Pacal, Darius, Gilgamesh, Mansa Musa and Mehmed as opponents in one Emperor game. They all...

How random is Random AI civ selection?

I always play with Random in the AI civ fields in Custom Game. However, there are some leaders that are almost always present in my games, and some that I rarely see. Is the algorithm for this truly random, or is it based on which Civ I choose and other factors? I probably roll Shaka and/or...

How to disable tech Screen and autosend units to a specific point.

Select the city and hold Shift while you click on a tile.

    Help me Beat Emperor!

Yes, well I was responding more to the claim that the rule was silly in general than in this particular case. 2 tiles "wasted" is not that bad, but losing coastal access on any watermap is.

    Help me Beat Emperor!

How is it silly, exactly? Water tiles in the radius but not being coastal means that you get none of the benefits of being coastal, and no way of improving the tiles since you can't build any of the water wonders or buildings, which basically makes those tiles useless. It's a continent map, so...

Which AI leaders give you a decent challenge ?

I've had some problems with Shaka on small maps lately. Was boxed in between Hannibal, Shaka and Sitting Bull in a previous Emperor Pangea game..took out hannibal early since he was closest and then expanded towards Shaka, which turned out to be a mistake since he attacked me with 15...

Disturbed1's first Prince Game - Critique Me!

Yes, I know all about SE. I just wanted a motivation for researching Masonry, since this thread was about improving. I didn't see any specific mentioning of running a SE, but I might have missed it. Running a PHI leader doesn't implicitly make SE the best choice, although it certainly helps. If...

Disturbed1's first Prince Game - Critique Me!

Alright...so no point in building barracks that early at all then :-)

Disturbed1's first Prince Game - Critique Me!

I also think the Barracks seems a bit inefficient at that stage..especially to waste population whipping it that could be used to whip out settlers/workers instead. I guess it would make sense if you were to do a warrior rush on a really closeby AI before settling a second city, but otherwise...

The 'I Suck At Civ' Series

I'd say you either settle in place, or move to the plains hill NW for the production bonus. I would not move to the coast since that means losing the cow, which is a powerful resource. If you do move to the plains hill, you could settle a city later by the coast as well anyway. Edit: Tip is to...

    Strategy vs Improvisation

I think there is a vast difference between mastering concepts of the game and specific strategies. Most of the stuff in the war academy and the strategy forum are just bits and pieces of the game play. I think what differs mediocre players from the top-notch players is the ability to apply these...

    Feedback om BtS Emperor game

Nope. The pigs are in the BFC there as well (the most SE tile). Otherwise it would be a no-brainer to settle where you suggested.

    Help with emperor conquest please.

I also tried to find the ultimate leader for my style, but came to realize that it wasn't really an optimal solution. Different maps and settings require different strategies, and different strategies have synergies with different leaders. If I play random maps, I always play random leader...
