    Chichan Itza!

They made the same claim in the Spring of 04 when I wasw there...I guess they finally did shut it down. And regarding injuries..our guide made it a point to remind us that we weren't in America anymore, and if we fell that we couldn't sue anyone over it so proceed at your own risk. Hmmm...I...

    Chichan Itza!

It is totally, definitely, profusely, titillatingly worth it. I only had 3 hours to spend there on my trip, and I could have easily spent 30. Climbing the pyramid was fun, but it was only a minor part of the trip. Chichen Itza is the most amazing place I have ever been....

    Chichan Itza!

I went to Chichen Itza in 2004, the last year you could climb it. It's not tiring, but damn it's steep. Going up isn't a big deal, but getting down can be a chore, especialy if you are afraid of heights! Check out my pics...most of them are from Chichen Itza... http://nardvark.com/mexico/

    Who else disables tech trading?

Gack....is that..Dutch? I have disabled tech trading on my last few games--partially out of curiousity to see how well the AI civs could keep up.

Single player load error -- "the save file you have selected is protected"

Okay...there is something going on here. I started a new game, had a CTD, the got the same error trying to load any of the saves from that game. This sucks.

Single player load error -- "the save file you have selected is protected"

....love your sig, by the way. I thought it sounded like it was from Atlas Shrugged, but I didn't remember it. A quick google seach yields only this forum, so I assume it's you own quote? And thanks for helping me look into this problem! Bryan

Single player load error -- "the save file you have selected is protected"

I tried a few autosaves from that game, and none of them worked. It's looking like file got corrupted during the CTD as you suggested. Is there a way to turn on some kind of logging to see where the compare is failing? Save for that, maybe I will take a look at the timestamps on the XML...

Single player load error -- "the save file you have selected is protected"

I don't have any "gameplay mods" installed. CivArmy's "The Next Level" mod is installed (adds Civ Army's created civs). The only other mods I have are advisor screen updates. As I mentioned in my original post, I have not changed or added any mods for quote a while, and no changes were made...

Single player load error -- "the save file you have selected is protected"

More info to add that I forgot to include in my initial post... I am running version 1.52. This problem occurred right after a CTD, which I am guessing happened during an autosave. Also, I had been able to successfully load saves up until that CTD, at the current state--ie, no mods or...

Protected Save File CTD . . help anyone? :)

Whoops....just found this. I am having the same problem, but started a new post. Did you find a solution? Bryan

Single player load error -- "the save file you have selected is protected"

I did some searching for the solution to this problem, but they all seem to address GOTM and MP saves. Mods: CivArmy's civs advanced HOF screen Advanced Military advisor I have not changed any XML, Python or installed any mods since beginning this game....any thoughts? The save can...

    CRC error

This happened on a completely fresh install...I mean COMPLETELY :). Format and fresh windows install fresh. I was under the impression that this error has nothing to do with an old copy of the file. I thought that the installer extracted the file, then compared what it just extracted to...

    Installation Issues

Tried again on a newly formatted, fresh win2K install with all the updates (incl SP4), and with a spare DVD-ROM drive. Same problem. Then tried on the wife's PC that is still on Win2K SP2 or SP3. Is this possibly an OS or service pak issue? Bryan
