    Vanilla?

What I don't understand though is the american tendency to use "Vanilla" as plain with nothing added. Actually Vanilla is a spice, and once you add Vanilla it's no longer basic or plain! Are Americans oblivious to the taste of vanilla, or oblivious to the taste of no artificial additives? ;)

    No angry Swedes, Danes?

I guess one reason no scandinavians is complaining is that the entire Viking civilization is rubbish. The name, the units, the hats, the capitol, etc. That they speak Norwegian can really only be an insult to Norwegians.. The vikings in Civ is basically a fantasy civilization that makes as...

    Benefits of First Strike

Yep. I am quite sure the odds are not counting first strike.

Wrong shirt in Qin Shi Huang

No, just no.. Horned helmets was the trademark of the celtic people. Vikings never used them. The confusion all relates back to some lazy costumers in the 17th century who didn't bother to design new helmets for their Viking play, after they just designed a bunch for a celtic play.

    Denmark Mod

Rather than Christian IX, I think both Margrethe I and Knud den store, would be better danish leaders, as they lead denmark when it was at it's greatest power. Christian IV is only interesting because he let Denmark to its downfall, and yet remain immensely popular.

    New Civilization: Vikings

This is normally the case of medieval war, but it's slightly different in Scandinavia. There are many tales from the Viking age where swedes and danes meet somewhere in Europe and doing battle. It is even more pronounced in old Norwegian tales, that all claim danes and swedes to be weak cowards...

Which are the legendary cities of today?

Unfortunately for great historical cities like Cairo, Bagdad, Jerusalem and Istanbul; city culture resets when conquered. Egypt has annexed by Arabia, Byzantium by Turks, Arabs by Turks and everyone by England ;-)

Firaxis, please tell us truth about the patch...

Yeah. I was starting to think my trusty old computer was really buggy, but then I started playing Oblivion a few days ago, and while my computer is way below minimum specs for this game, and I need a third-party plugin to just play the game and overclock the video-card by 25%, the game is quite...

Firaxis, please tell us truth about the patch...

The point is it has been finished and just waiting to be releaed for several months now. So where is it? This entire thread is asking the question: What is really happening to the patch? Just tell us the truth! And the apologists should just leave the thread: If you don't care, then don't...

Mass-murders you would like to play or beat

To put the others in perspective. He did okay terror-bombings, not just the atom-bombings, but the terror-bombings of Tokyo and Dresden as well. In other words he is the top responsible for about half a million civilian casualties. No doubt if the war had turned out different they would have...

Mass-murders you would like to play or beat

Given Civ IVs is game of conquest, it is sometimes fun to put it in perspective. Therefore given the choice, which of the above leaders who all have ordered the killing of thousands or millions of civilians do you think would be fun to play or fun to beat.. This is a not a poll on what you...

    Expansion Civilizations

Please stop calling danes dutch. It's insulting ;) Besides the last time the danes beat Sweden in any significant way, was in 1520, the rest are just won battles.

    Expansion Civilizations

Sweden was left for later expansion as the Germans found them much more usefull as a way to sell jewish gold. Iceland is a bit special since they were placed under american protection after Denmark fell. They did not have independency at the time and forgot to inform Denmark they had seceded...

GalCiv2 makes life tough for Civ4

More to the point GalCiv2 was the second game lately that had problems on my computer (DirectX 9c seems to have issues) Civ4 almost works now with 1.52 which came out two months after the game. GalCiv2 worked mostly with 1.0D which came a few days after release, and is now more stable than Civ4...
