@ATEX thanks for making this post. Really informative.
I've taken a long break from Civ so its nice to know the current state of optimal play. I can see that most previous strategies are now patched in one way or another.
Seeing a victory done in 157 brings some hope back. What worries me...
Happened to me recently on Deity.
Met Teddy on T3, Chandragupta on T11. Turn 12 Teddy declares war and initially attacks with 4 warriors and a slinger.
My original build order was Scout into Builder, but because the warrior was on the other side of the map - Teddy got my capital at T16.
So I...
Is the above calculation correct?
The modifiers do stack - but not up to x15. Rather:
Base chop yield is doubled with Magnus and then further modified.
But instead of multiplying each other - the remaining modifiers all add up like this: (100% Press Gangs + 100% Marque + 50% Norway Bonus + 25...
I've experimented a bit. My game openings always have an early second city (either, scout, builder settler - or, scout settler) and I try to squeeze monu nets as soon as possible.
With this setup - you can get everything up faster - and get the government plaza in either the first or second city...
Has anyone tested what happens with different sources if visibility once you declare a war.
I've played a mongol game and it ranged from 0 to 12.
So, if I send a delegation and then declare war do I keep the bonus visibility?
Also, it seems if you have a trading post in city A - if you then...
Obviously there's a lot of faults with the AI, but considering its pretty much programmed by just one guy - its really good. Sadly, Firaxis does not want to put more resources into hiring a proper AI team.
The biggest issue with the AI in my opinion, is that they often loose ridiculous amounts...
Thats quite cheesy :)
Here's a slightly less cheesy way to defer your points into a new era -> instead of eliminating a civ - leave it with one small city close to the rest of (now your) cities. In a certain number of turns the city is bound to become a free city. Wait. Soon after the city will...
After a few test games I am now certain AI's inclination to conquering city states has been changed from likely to certainly. I've observed AI build only holy sites - put 4 envoys and amani into a religious city state and then conquer it.
Anybody notice the change in Great General bonuses?
Instead of giving the bonus to units around the GG at the beginning of a turn - now the bonus is granted to units within range of GG.
This is a very big nuisance that obviously nobody play tested - now with multiple units getting stuck on the...
Hahahaha, Alex was totally broken even before R&F - as it kept getting eurekas/inspiratiosn for building districts in cities you've captured a long time ago. But this is a whole new level.
Probably missing a stronger opening?
Try going for a fast first district then government plaza, all the while improving the lux and selling so that you can purchase monuments. Also don't delay your second city. This will allow you to hit PP just in time for a golden age.
Couple of things - I really don't understand devs rationale about these production costs. Whats so special about the water park to warrant such a high cost. Similar with that food market that costs 400+ production and gives 3 food in return... c'mon.
As for the district discounts - the fact...
