Yippie a slow slugfest Diplo win in 1954. Didn't think I'd have enough time to finish this. I used the adventurer save since Immortal is above my comfort level but I'll take it.
SIP built warriors then a nail biter to build the GW on T52. I then expanded north to get the Iron by the...
1946AD Domination Win
Since I've never played this type of start before I tried some practice games. I thought the games were interesting so I attempted 32 of them before starting this BOTM! (Can anyone say compulsive!) I only played them till I could see how the game was going to end. The...
I've enjoyed all the posts, but Monnet's was the most entertaining. I feel your pain. I ended up with a rather lame 1917 cultural win. I see I can improve ... a lot.
This is my first BOTM in a long time and I expected the game to be a wonder builderfest. I settled in place but missed a...
I think the faster way to get Astro was pointed out in a previous thread and involves not using Liberalism. If you don't get any Religions and a few other techs a GS can bulb Astro. I thought It was a great strategy and highly recommend it in this game. I found it by searching for stategies...
I backed all the way down to Nobel before I could win. I then tried Prince and Monarch with good results. By doing this I noticed the main difference being the AI producing and keeping as city defenders more units so I building to keep up became critical. The higher levels convinced me that...
I have also tried the same strategies as WFU03 but after each loss I backed the difficulty down. I picked up from these forums that the key was getting Astro as early as possible and invading before the AI had Longbows. I was eventually successful a couple of times but the key was not only...
This is a fun map! I've tried it 4-5 times with different strategies on Prince/Normal but I don't see how I can win it. So far the best I can do is get Astro around 200AD but by the time I sailed to England they had longbows (400AD) so I turned around and attacked America. After taking a few...
My first thought was to exploit the UU. But, it didn't help much. At 500BC I have 6 cities, I'm ahead in research but I haven't built a wonder or have a GP. After exploring my thought was to isolate HC and finding the copper in the NW that is where I settled my second city but it took a...
You can change the difficulty and a few other things if you go into WorldBuilder and save it as a WorldBuilder file. Then go to the main menu and start a custom scenario. You should see the file you just saved. Select it and you can change the difficulty and victory conditions.
dualdoc, I'm impressed how quickly you were able to research. Do you remember how many beakers per turn you were generating in 1500 and how? It looks like around 2000? That is one thing I need to work on.
Has anyone tried this with all the victory conditions except conquest turned off...
LlamaCat, I also got the 'make peace' random event and it was just irritating.
With 7-10 first strikes you get 7-10 chances to inflict damage before the other guy gets to respond. Hopefully, he dies before inflicting any damage on you. At least that is how I understand it but I may...
Very interesting game! I've played it a few times but keep getting overrun. Each time I last a little longer and learn a little more. In my best game my stategy was to have lots of medium-promoted units. By the 1300s I had maybe 40 grenadiers promoted from Samuris. I was starting to feel...
GeorgeF, What kind of system did you need to play your game to the end and how long was the wait between turns? You must have had hundreds of units. I love the Earth maps but can't get past 1800-1900 before it becomes 30 sec per turn. Sorry all for the off-topic post.
I'm interested in the memory profiler results. What SW are you using? I might use it on my game. I also have the experienced the slow down during the mid to late game but it is not new to 3.13.
