Where are you? A Civ Community Poll

Funny that. I'm not actually Orang Suroboyo, but I've been here for about a year now. Nice place. I ended up choosing other. I can hang out there with all the people on the ISS. ;)

Final Verdict: We want our stack back and other great cIV features!

I agree completely. I tried a game of BTS last night just to see how it would stack up, and I simply can't stand the old stack system. Sure, there are a number of features from BTS that I miss, and hope will be incorporated in Civ V in the future (and balance issues that need to be addressed)...

Final Verdict: We want our stack back and other great cIV features!

I just voted in the poll. As of right now, there are 926 votes, with 411 (44%, and by far the plurality of votes in the poll) saying that they like Civ V just fine. I think that perhaps your concerns are quite as wide-spread as you believe.

Where are you? A Civ Community Poll

I agree. While "Indochina" on the East Asia Mainland option could include Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, and Burma, it definitely leaves Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, and Timor Leste out. Seeing as how I live in Indonesia, this makes it a bit difficult to answer the poll. :)

Anyone tried it on Bootcamp yet?

How does it work? What hardware are you running?

Rest of the leaders are up

It sounds to me like he says "Ashalom aleik". The sheen is a pretty big indicator that it's not Arabic. I don't speek Aramaic, but it sounds the way I'd imagine it would. I think he says "Maleik malekai", which I assume is Aramaic for "King of Kings." The Arabaic equivalent would be...

    XP for promotion?

Reading through the manual, it quickly became apparent that xp increases at a faster rate in Civ 5 than it did in Civ 4. For example, the barracks gives 15 xp, and a melee attack grants 5 xp. Does anyone know what the scale is for xp needed for a promotion? I couldn't find that in the manual...

    Civ5 PDF manual is here!

I expect that part of that is because the "Constitution" social policy doubles culture in cities with a wonder. If the wonders all gave 4, 6, or 8 culture, that would be a much bigger benefit than it is now with just 1 or 2 culture, even when you take into account the culture from all the other...

    Natural Wonders look awesome.

That doesn't seem to me to be all that much more odd than having, say, J.S. Bach's Cathedral built in Tenochtitlan. Kind of par for the course.

I do not understand the pricing, can someone explain

I imagine that's because brick and mortar stores have to take inventory costs into account, whereas Steam doesn't have to worry about that.

I do not understand the pricing, can someone explain

I take it you view the market as "the Civilization 5 market"? If that's the case, then sure, Firaxis definitely has a monopoly on terms of sale of Civilization 5. However, I think this is a bit shortsighted. A more reasonable market to consider is the "video games market" or, perhaps, the...

    Community updates RSS available?

I'm loving the community updates that 2k Greg put out last week - good solid information about the game. Is there an RSS feed of these community updates? I can't find one, but I'm not sure if the flash-ness of the Civ5 site is hiding something that I can't see.

    Unit Diversity

Also, I've read a number of times that there will be diverse geography graphics, such that Asian and African forests are distinct. It would seem odd to have that it but to not have any diversity in the unit graphics.

Is there going to be a boxed Collectors Edition?

I may be wrong (and I hope somone will correct me if I am) but Steam actually refers to two different things - purchasing the game and activating the game. You can purchase it either retail as a disc or through Steam as a digital download. However, regardless of how you purchase it, Civ V will...
