Civ III (Conquests) had very active AI players in terms of chattiness and trade opportunities, I know it is far less in Civ 5 but was there ever any reasoning for it? Or is it just firaxis being lazy :(
I almost consistently get DoW'd within 90 turns :(

I take it for the border growth, the +3 culture is just gravy. I tend to grab the second policy in tradition to get 4 ampitheatres or something similar.
Tradition -> Liberty (finish liberty) then start working towards finishing tradition
Never really thought in-depth about letting archers have good LoS, I've always made my cities in well defend-able positions.. Kinda funny I never thought of that :P
I guess as long as my military is strong enough I won't get warred to much :D
Seems that I usually get bumrushed by the AI pretty early (playing on emperor). Is this because I don't have a large standing military? Usually I don't grow my military until I have laid down some basic infrastructure (found a pantheon, etc.), but more often then not I get rushed by the AI...
