If you want to twist the world then twist the world. There's already been posted a stability patch that means the human player will never fall. Alternatively (if you want to give the AI's a chance) just go into the Stability.py file, find civics using a search engine (Rhye leaves useful comments...
I'd like to change my vote from Don't Care to Allow. I still won't ever get to use it but from an historical point of view much of civilization has been spent trying to stop splinter groups from breaking away. For instance the Medo-Persians were determined to keep the Bablyonians, the Egyptians...
I'm going to keep playing Bablyon with Civs spawing all around me so I'm not too pushed as I'll never use it. Would it not be simpler just to say where the line in the python is (approximately) and then people can switch it on or off as they wish. We're all (or nearly all) changing things to...
Brilliant, just back from holiday (in India no less so I'm NOT making an attempt at India) and we've a new patch. Excellent seiries of improvements, just going to finish trying to make Babylon a modern age superpower (fat chance) and when I'm finally creamed will download the new patch...
So basically the thing to do is to have several units of warriors in the spawn area and your serious units will remain loyal. Have to try that out next time.
Um, Elves and Dwarfs? Williams the Conqueror's (1066 and all that) favourite curse was "Loki's Bones". They maintained a form of polytheism for quite some time (to this day Polytheists in India will have an idol to Jesus and an idol to a Hindu God or Goddess [seen them]). "Dancing around the...
I don't know about the rest of you but sometimes I get a real kick watching all the AI's playing off agaainst each other. Esp when they do it historically accurately.
Points to bear in mind:
1) George Washington was originally part of the British army (the colonial militia maybe but there is no real distinction in Civ4 as yet) so his lead in the rebellion would well be represented by the above.
2) The American militia's that sided with the rebels would...
Depends on the state of your civilization I guess. Following 3Miro's pointer I played the dreaded 1535-1590 (when I always collapse) just keeping my money in the green (and a Def Pact with Germany). No civic changes, especially not Slavery
Result was Greece didn't declare war on me (so no...
... you've just highlighted my major weakness, I always viewed a surplus of money as an excuse for some turns of deficit spending (works wonders in regular civ, now I realise its suicide in Rhye's Civ). :hammer2:
Yes I did read the instruction manual, I just didn't realise how much I didn't...
Trouble with those one's is 1) the game expects them to become powerful, 2) we all know what they did with their power and finally 3) being a micromanaging meglomaniac I really wanted to rule from the start to the finish.
Thanks for getting me looking at civics, I didn't touch them because...
My dreams of a Middle East superpower fall apart in the hazy mire of economics. I can take some consolation that I'm not the first this has happened to. Thanks AnotherPacifist.
Not sure where to ask this but I've speant the last week playing over the same ten turns to try and stop my civ falling.
I'm playing Babylonians (no state religion, Hereditary rule but other Civics are vanilla). Having destroyed Arabia in 1535 I've 12 Cities (5 with Zigurattes and Markets, 2...
Ahriman's right, I was wrong.
I was thinking in small and large scale battles, not the epic sweep of the ages of Civ.
I like the idea of their having high offense but low defense (mayve no defensive bonuse like cavalry units?) so they can fight battles but don't just become another form of...
Not sure if vote over but pretty much agree with Ahriman and Kzwix. Especially agree with Kzwix about recon units. Strider was a powerful warrior but he only went up against large armies when he had a large army behind him, otherwise he stuck to scouting and fighting other recon units. Their...
