    I disagree. That it is a hollow remake of its predecessors does make it more disappointing, yes, but even looking it as a game in general I think it is quite bad. The only good thing about it is that it made me look into civ4, which I'd barely touched before.

    I prefer my games unbroken, thank you. The difficulty setting is there for selecting an appropriate challenge, I don't want my choice to be effectively changed after I start the game.

    You are missing the two worst issues that 1upt creates: 1. game balance is completely changed to limit the army sizes to make it manageable 2. AI will never be even close to human in combat tactics so military conquest will remain the easiest way to beat the computer Number one I won't touch...
