    no CD

Well, of course, I already _tried_ to download warez. But I'm not a good warezer or something. I had no luck! Anyway, thanks for the tip, maybe I'll ask firaxis. It's quite possible that infogrames people don't really care about me and my Civ3 addiction.

    no CD

I know the generic response from the moderators: Here is the reply I got to my question about being able to play on my laptop without a CD rom drive (it's a mini sized laptop). "Gregory, Unfortunately, we have no way in which to remove the copy protection that requires the game cd...

    Carriers useless?

I haven't done a lot of close comparison, but a carrier with 4 bombers gets 4 raids vs a battleship which gets only 1 per turn - this coupled with the range, makes them rather powerful - of course bombers can't sink ships, so battlships are handy.

Two cheers for Democracy - corruption down from 53 %to 51%

It will probably improve if you go and get the new patch! Otherwise, you can try courthouses, but probably they won't do very much. Freakboy

    Carriers useless?

What I remember about this is that the germans were sort of freaked out that the Russians would go through all the trouble to train a dog, just to send it in to blow itself to bits. Most of the dogs were shot before they got near tanks. Next Gen Real weapon: Robotic Flies w/ nerve gas. Re...

VIP: missing from Alpha centauri and Civ2

I really miss the engineers ability to change terrain. It was just so cool to be able to sack those mountains down into hills. Also - terraforming in Alpha centauri was fun.. Don't want to build a navy - just raise the land between your continents and make a land bridge. Seems like civ3...

    Civilization III v1.16f Additions/Changes/Fixes

Yeah, rock on guys! This is great! I always wondered why they'd want to build achers instead of panzers. Go figure. Btw- if you haven't played with panzers yet, it's pretty fun. It seems like with blitz you can wipe out like 5 units a turn. (Exaggeration). I'm going to go change my bic...

    Why the draft totally rocks!

I guess I didn't notice this effect because I had so many + happy faces from all the trading I'd done.

    Wife or girlfriend bugs

Pack up a backpack with lots of batteries and a laptop - better yet, get a solar powered battery charger. Bring a tent. Tell the woman that you're going out for a little walk. Hike to the nearest mountain cave. Hide out for a few weeks, while you play a HUGE map. Come back and say...

    Why the draft totally rocks!

You know those cities that have almost no production? Draft an infantry and then disband them to build things. You can pump out 22 shields per turn. I'm not certain if this works with wonders, but it's pretty handy. Makes those outlying cities rock! Freakboy AKA Toolboi AKA...

    Funny history...

One thing I really liked about Civ2, CTP or Alpha (I can't remember which one did it) is that when you were just about to finish a civ, they'd basically cowtow to you and do anything you wanted. They'd sign an alliance with you, give you all their money and tech whenever you asked and basically...

No Culture Points for Taken-Over Wonders?

I think that it's enough to deprive someone else of the culture that they would get when you sack their wonder. It does seem like a bit of a downer not to get all the benefits though. It seems like it should come back after time. On another note, I think it's sort of lame that you don't...

razing cities after you take them over

I should have said the corruption/city limit (depends on map size) See some of the other threads around here for why this is annoying. Personally, I think it's pretty cool. It keeps one side from steamrolling over everyone. Greg

razing cities after you take them over

Burning the ground... I wish I could have a slash and burn retreat. Take over a bunch of cities and then raze them as I retreat back across the landscape. That would rock. It'd be like russia vs napoleon! Anyway, is there a good way to do this? It'd be handy especially once you go over...

    The finished game

Honestly, who cares what happens at the end! You just took over the world - isn't that enough to satisfy you?!?! In civ2 I used to surround the last enemy city and just laugh for a few turns before putting them to the sword. That was a great way to end it! Other times, I build a lot of...
