    Is the game newb friendly?

I would not say newbie friendly, but it is newbie friendlier. As for strategy games in general, if you like the game you will eventually be good at it. So you must decide if you would like to play a really good strategy game. Because Civ IV is a great game.

[MOD] *Very* Realistic Religions - Ready!

Nice work. Very thought out. But, in my opinion, the wrong direction to go. Actually, I think the designers got it right. Religion is a tool that rulers use to persade the populus to adhere to there wishes. The basics are the same. We worship/meditate. We like/help others like us. We...

Defeating a tank with a spearman *is* realistic...

A spearmen that is utilized by on of the top 18 Civilizations in the world during a time were enemy Civs have tanks. It may be a unit that started its history as a spearmen. And it may have had no Upgrades. But it must have SOME modern advantages. Maybe they are spear armed but have a few...

    Do you play mods?

I've tried the Composite Mod by Exavier. Not bad. I've tryed Fall for Heaven Fantasy Mod by Kael. Still to early in its development. I agree the Green Mod is unrealistic.

    Siege weapons are too unreallistic

I've responded to posts like this one many times now. I won't go into as much depth this time. Artillery as portrayed in the game takes loses which if they didn't they would be the ultimate weapon. The loses need to be replaced. This uses up production capacity and time. Just the right...

    Upgrading=Expensive

I upgrade regularly. Great Merchants doing here trade route thing is a great way to get the cash. As for the upgrade or disband option, it would be nice to be able to get back some resources from disbanding.

    The Best Great Person?

Depends. If you founded religion(s), then you want Prophet(s). Great Merchant get when low on funds (send to trade with far flung large city). Scientist for Acadamy. Artist for Culture Bomb. Engineer for hurry production. And of course the all can discover techs in there individual fields...

HELP! unhappy citizens with "Too crowded" help!

Monarchy. Religious Buildings. Theatre and Colosium. But you could do what I do before it got out of hand. Find happiness resources (e.g., Spices). Also assign some worker to specialists instead of working so many food tiles.

stop asking me to open my borders

Open Borders is considered an advantage. So they just can't understand way you wouldn't want to take advantage of it. But isolationism is a valid strategy. Want is needed it a way to RED out things YOU won't trade like the AI can.

    Large boarders = you lose?

No. He say 1-2 cities with 20+ units EACH.

How to fix those useless forts?

99.99 % of the time forts are useless. But last night as the Persians I had a constant influx of Barbs coming through a one square (diangonal) space in a long mountain chain. I say GREAT, this will be the first time I build a fort! Well, I move an Immortal to the space, dig in, and move a...

I loaded the patch. Blue Marble was still on the intro screen but the terrain was vanilla. I redownloaded and reinstalled Blue Marble. But terrain still vanilla. Any ideas? Am I now messed up for trying?

    Building Boats

It should be in your production icon box. Are you sure the city you want to build a boat in is adjacent to a coastal tile? It must be adjacent, not just have coast in its fat cross.
