Argh. So, I have two CD drives in my computer, both CD/RW. When I go into My Computer, they're not there. When I go into the Device Manager, it shows them, and they have a little exclamation point thingie on them and when I go into the Properties for them it says "Windows successfully loaded...

Yayy! It dawned on me after it didn't work the last time to try to move the file to the system32 folder rather than the system folder...and my Civ2 now works. Thanks Mercator! :D Apparently you shouldn't believe everything you see in a readme file...lol :lol:

Thank you, Mercator, for offering that solution and I figured it would work...however I downloaded the file and placed it in the windows/system folder as the readme recommended, and Civ2 is still giving me that error...perhaps I should put the file into the Civ folder?? I don't know, I'm stumped...

I have Windows 2000 on my comp, and recently re-installed Civ2 to find that it didn't work. The problem: a stack fault in IR41.dll. So, I downloaded the iv5setup.exe, installed it and got rid of IR41.dll (as according to the advice in the other thread above this one about Win2000 problems)...
