I don't what is wrong with having a unit supply mechanic that allows for larger stacks based on population and resources. It would be better than having missionaries and soldiers covering the map and damaging the game.
Essentially, the OP is saying the game is more about flash over substance. There is meat in this game but it suffers from a bad UI and a bad AI. I still enjoy playing but the game is testing my patience with these idiotic computer moves.
I had Pericles construct a huge army of horseman to...
It is a little confusing from what I can tell. Some of the agendas are mysteries too.
I came across the Darwinist agenda. "Likes Civilizations being at War". How does that affect relationships?
Amenities are better than happiness. There is a depth to the system(even without playing it) that I can see that wasn't in Civilization V. Coupled with the housing mechanic and districts it means that cities are becoming more like characters in this story in their own right.

War Weariness is not in Civilization V because it was part of the "global happiness" mechanic; It was a quite simplistic implementation.
Anyway, I loved that mechanic in Civilization 3; I know some were annoyed with it. Honestly, it makes the game more "alive" when the citizens seem to...
Xen, you are not the only one. Civilization 3 was and still is my favorite. I know a lot of people were not big fans of the third game but it was the first Civ game that I was introduced to and I enjoyed it a great deal. Ai annoys me a lot in that game but not everything can be good in a complex...

Civilization V(base game) was a beautiful game but it lacked depth of the previous game. Many aspects of Empire management were stripped out. I enjoy playing CIV V but I find much older games much more satisfying and interesting because they give you more to do than just press turn while moving...
That is a very interesting revelation. I have only recently started playing Master of Orion 2(very good game btw) and there is an agenda based system like Civilization 6.
There was an environmentalist agenda in the second game in which the civilization would focus on terraforming the climate.
