Civ V: How much have you bought?

Not seeing the "I wear an eyepatch" option.

    Please explain the "NC Start"

Right but the thing is, a second city gives just as many beakers at pop 5 with a library and then continues to grow from there, plus gold, resources, land grabbing and whatever else. And GL is cheaper. Only wonders i really go for before getting a few more cities is henge, and then mids later...

    FEB 2011 Patch Details

Huh. Interesting. Hit to ICS, low numbers of big cities won't care, and selling luxury resources just became more important. Nifty.

Fish going all the way up to 5 will make it one of the best tiles in the game, even making it worth getting a bunch of sea tiles in many cases. Only thing comparable is a riverside flood plains wheat tile. Makes sense. Historically fish have been a major food source.

Locked out of Steam/Civ V because of PayPal security

I wouldn't be suggesting it if it was not an accessible option.

Locked out of Steam/Civ V because of PayPal security

Assuming this is legit, i would suggest acquiring it from alternative sources. The paying customer should not have to suffer financially over the screwups of corporations he has no control or influence over.

    Specialty Cities

Specialization is a CIV concept. You don't see a river or some silver tiles and decide "this will be my gold city", the terrain makes it so. Most gold comes from selling/working resources and trade routes anyway, at least in my games, so i question the value of the trade post. Used to build it...

Are we sure that culture decreasers are additive and not multiplicive? I mean, we're already down to 1/3 cost with a few policies, don't need much more than that even if all you have is a monument.

    Need description of Era benefits

Science bonus does change over time. Generally starts out at about 8 and eventually goes to 20+. Looking purely at the science to gold conversion, you are getting about 2 science for each gold. That alone makes them worth grabbing until RA start having a better payoff.

    Publicly denounce

Hrmm i guess nobody likes someone wishy washy about choosing sides like i usually do. This requires more investigation.

    Publicly denounce

It's actually a surprisingly broken tool. Had a game yesterday, one city, going for culture win (accidentally won diplo instead). Egypt to my east (local superpower), 3 other civs to the north and east. Egypt was giving me the evil eye, so i denounced them. I usually don't do that, favoring...

    FEB 2011 Patch Details

Problem is, each new city adds 2 unhappiness, so those 2 base food are not exactly free. The new granary aqueduct will help make a small number of big cities viable, to me it's roughly 90% of this patch (with things like the new, finally worthwhile workshop being most of the remaining 10).

When do you know you have won?

Snarky as that is, you might just be right. Tried my first immortal game today and it doesn't feel much different from anything else. With alex competing for CS, even. Which is kind of annoying. I don't consider myself a hardcore civer and i stopped at emp in IV. This game is too easy.

Fish now: 3 :c5food: base, one more from lighthouse, total of 4 :c5food:. Fish after patch: 1 :c5food: base, one more from fishing boat, two more from lighthouse, total of 4 :c5food:. Gold reduced. Makes sense. I never did have much incentive to get the lighthouse early, usually it was...

When do you know you have won?

Curious what everyones standards on this is. I'm a builder, i space my cities 6 tiles apart resources and geography permitting and i like wonders and city states. I also have RA off to make something other than trading posts and gold multipliers matter, and because it gets ridiculous later on...
