    Worst UU

Also, dog soldiers are a perfect matchup for praetorians. Can't even cut off the metal supply. So they have that going for them.

I've just tried a couple of archipelago games... wow!

Grammer Police-Police Having taken Latin in high school, i can't let this slide. Actually 'e.g' is an abbreviation for 'exempli gratia'. "For example" is a decent translation. Better might be, "a good example". "Ergo" however, means 'therefore' (Cogito ergo sum = i think, therefore, i am)...

I managed to found at last why Civ 2 is the best

I'd just like to say that although Civ IV is the best game, it was no Civ 2. Civ 2 was head-and-shoulders the best game ever for a LONG time (until C3C). I think Civ2 is always gonna have a special place in our hearts. But have you ever gone back to play it? No borders, so the AI builds an...

    Open Border, Beware!

What a silly, stupid game flaw. I wish you could give Civ's ultimatums, like "Either Stop trading with Alexander or Stop trading with me!" Right now, usually you can't even ask a civ to cancel their open border with your enemy because it's usually redded out. And why would i have to teach...

    Open Border, Beware!

The worst thing ever just happened to me. I was in a modern war with the Romans. Most of the fighting was happening at sea since they had a much better army than i did. My fleet (3 battleships, 3 destroyers, a carrier with 3 fighters) just got done sinking 2 battleships and a destroyer that...

    Montezuma's pointless Wars

In my continents game that i'm playing, 5 of us were on one continent, and Monty and Alex were on the other. Way early, Monty conquered Alex and he just came and said hi in a caravel. Yep, his score 3800, mine is first on my continent at 2900 and he's only a couple of techs behind us. This...

What's the biggest improvement between civ4 and civ3?

I agree with Acceptable_Loss, military aphabet soup is much more compelling than the Civ 3 'build knights to capture, pikemen to hold' formula. Though Civ 2 was much worse, one cannon and one musketeer could take down an entire civ!

    Soapboxing?

Wasn't there a 'little ice age' between 1300 and 1800 where it was on average 2.5 degrees F colder? We survived that 2 degree warm-up after 1800 alright. I think a more honest thing to say about global warming is 'we don't know what would happen' as opposed to try to guess at the consequences...

How the holy is chosen ?

Off topic: In Civ IV terms, i would say that Rome is the Christian holy city (the Pope could be seen as having line-of-sight into Christian cities) and Mecca is the holy city of Islam (the haig generates lots and lots of gold)

    Soapboxing?

My $0.02, First off, you guys are being a little bit silly in arguing this point. The game is played by people who have above average intelligence who already are plenty old to have their political opinions formed. I doubt many impressionable youths play Civ IV. I'd be more worried about...

Founding religion more hassle than its worth?

That post is so good and and so true it needed to be read again. On noble or lower, it's probly okay to go out of your way to found and spread religion. On higher difficulty, spending time and hammers on religion means getting crushed.
