If, as I suspect, the heavy cannon points to napoleonic use of artillery, we could use "grande batterie", which is to be fair, more the name of a tactic than a single unit... but way more evocative.
I don't think "spadassin" is that bad. The meaning has evolved but it litterally and etimologically means "swordsman".
The correct medieval term for "infantry" would be "Homme d'arme" (or gens d'arme) which would let us use "Infanterie" for the modern infantry unit.
I would propose :

You can change the language to english, but not everything is translated. It is pretty straightforward though, I don't think it would be a problem.
Titanpad is apparently an english language alternative, but it seems less polished and got an annoying "insecure connection" warning everytime you...
Would be happy to help with the french translation. I'm not big on technical stuff, but I've done my fair share of translating out of english. Setting up a framapad could be a good idea if there are enough persons.
If the enlargement is comprised of mountains or hilly tundra, it wouldn't really affect gameplay, and irl northern scandinavia is pretty big but empty, that would reflect that an look better on the map, I think.
Well I'd say Napoleon knew that Corsica was little... that's why he invaded all of...
In Nasser's Egypt, food was so subsidized that it was cheaper to feed cattle with bread than with grain.
We should totally have a modern egypt by the way, and then Israel of course, or it wouldn't be fun :)
I moved around resources in France trying to be more accurate.
Moved the wine in centre to the Bourgogne
Moved the iron in Lorraine, coal should ideally be here too, but goes in the north to be attainable by Amsterdam (and a nice symmetry on the rhine :))
Aluminium in the Var, where the...
Is the only way to erase a resource in WB the erase button ? Because it automatically erases the rivers, and those are a ***** to recreate afterwards.
I wanted to move around the resources in france a little, but I only flattened the massif central, which really doesn't deserve a peak, and...
If I remember correctly, the GE creates a special building that provides 3 of the resource. The resources work like any other resources (got automobiles = build any tanks as you like).
Although now that we're probably having a bigger map with more room for improvements, I think it could be fun...
I really don't think antiquity plays or medieval "novels" should impact commerce. Their effect is already abstracted into the culture mechanic. What Hollywood represents is the film industry, which gives commerce in the form of resources to trade and that's ok, but I don't think that cultural...
