The sun never set on the British Empire. There never was an "English Empire", unless you count the territories they conquered in the British isles (Wales & Ireland) or their largely inherited territory in France.
I voted yes, although with Elizabeth I as the leader English is OK. I just hate seeing Churchill and Victoria as "English" leaders. Plus it would give the rest of the British Isles representation in the game which is currently lacking in Civ IV.
I played that a lot back in the day too. I was a board war gamer from way back, Civilization was great fun but it's lack of a combat/conquest system was vexing to me :)
I played Civ I on my buddy's 386, played Civnet on my own 486, then Civ II was on my various computers for about 10 years. I bought Civ III and all it's expansions at the same time, either shortly before or shortly after Civ IV came out. I played that until my wife bought me Civ IV for my...
The Malcolm Canmore thing was all me. I screwed up the quotes when I deleted part of it that was irrelevant and accidentally destroyed the formatting. I don't really know how to fix it.
Niall Noígíallach certainly works as a Gael leader, as does Columba. Maybe we should create a Gael...
Actually, Robert the Bruce was of partial Gaelic ancestry, he simply happened to have Anglo-Norman paternal ancestors; common practice was for Anglo-Norman lords to marry daughters of the Gaelic aristocracy to cement relations with the indigenous power-structure. By that time, the Lowland...

If you want Gaelic Scottish leaders you have to either go into the highlands and islands or before the Norman conquest of England.
Panzer General spawned 8 sequels and is the best selling turn based WW2 strategy game of all time. That's more sequels than Civilization unless you count non-stand alone expansion packs. Generally you don't keep making sequels to a game that didn't sell well.
The Celts if they make it, if not then the Mongols or the Romans. I love making world conquering empires with both.
Most likely a continents map or earth if it's an easily chosen option. In early versions of Civ the random maps were awful.
