The mod of mods. An interesting suggestion

Ok, I only read the first post but I gotta say : They are sacrificing flavor for function. I understand trying to balance while keeping flavor is difficult, but they are just taking it too far. For example, they are using the Pagoda as the UB for Japan, which replaces the observatory and give...

    The logic behind resources bonuses

I think most native americans civilizations at that time - the "Red Indians" civilization, the Aztecs and the Inca still haven't developed metal working. That why thier unique units doesn't require metal.

The mod of mods. An interesting suggestion

If anything, I want a civ 4 "mod" that only fixes the things that most agree that are underpowered - Protective, Aggressive trait, city walls, castles, Itza, Space Elevators, serfdoms, various other wonders, research cost for unwanted techs, and downpowering stuff that overpowered - Financial...

    The logic behind resources bonuses

The other two grains produced 2 food, they didn't need to make them different, but strangely they did it for rice. Well the argument was not Britain had coal, but Britain had cheap coal. Further down the surface probably make it rather expensive.

Is the consensus on the tiering

Even if it did, Charismatic is a much better trait because their -25% exp thing applies to ALL units. Not to mention that happiness boost at early game is really good.

    The logic behind resources bonuses

There is no need for such harsh sarcasm. I was just wondering whether there is actually a reason behind it or like what tachywaxon said, randomness. One that kinda annoyed and surprised me though, stone seemed to be more less common than marble. Plenty of games where I was finding stone to...

    What's so good about religions?

I have to agree strongly on this. Buddhism is always almost the most common religion in most of my games. I admit I do play on Pangaea maps, but surely the developers would have knew Pangaea is a very very commonly played map, and balanced the religions based on Pangaea.

    The logic behind resources bonuses

For most of human civilization history, food were mostly about filling our stomachs and getting energy out of it. The richer men of those times were probably eating meat anyway. Nutritional values concerns came much later, at a time where we finally figure out about nutritional values...

    The logic behind resources bonuses

I was wondering, why rice has the most pathetic bonus among the food resource. Euro/American-centricness? It feeds billions (literally) of population in Asia. In game wise, it you can't farm rice unless its near a water source unlike to cows, sheeps, horses, etc. Just a small thought in my mind.

Newbie; When Should I expand my civ's borders???

For me, it depends how far or near is the next civilization is. If they are far away, I tend to focus on building workers and researching Bronze & Iron working so I can get the best city placement, and maybe get a wonder or two. If I see a few civilization near me, I'm normally gonna produce...

Is the consensus on the tiering

A hypothetical question - If I put all the military related bonus in ONE single trait Super Military Trait -25% experience needed for unit promotion Free Combat I promotion for Melee and Gunpower units Free City Defender I and Drill I for Archery and Gunpowder units Double Great General...

    What's so good about religions?

Is there really any large synergy between Spiritual and founding religion? If your arguing switching between the civic bonus, you don't need to found any religion to get the bonus, just spreading it between your cities, and Spiritual doesn't help with building missionaries or monastries.

Is the consensus on the tiering

Ok, looking at everyone ranking, I see a few consistent patterns. Financial is highly rated, probably highest. Organized, Philosophical, and Industrial is rated as good high. Military related traits are always rated low. The purely military traits, Aggressive and Protective, are...

Preferably restricted. Though I would like to know what the best unrestricted civilization and leader combo would be.
