The AI won't accept cities being too far away. On the harder difficulties the AIs upkeep is lower so the question is then if you actually do him a favour by this strategy. For stealing techs it might be a good idea to gift a city on your own landmass maybe.
Zara can be kept as a little pet in his mountain cage.. just raze his outer cities and then rush in every 20 rounds or so and steal workers and pillage him. Impis are untouchable until he gets metal.
I wouldn't settle west. That city won't grow past size three in ages and there are no forests to chop. Settle along the east coast instead where there is seafood and forests to chop Impis for. Impis rather than Axes due to the distance they need to cover to get to Rams who is the best target...
Tried to get early Cho Ko Nus without Oracle as a test in BTS. Wasn't too much of a problem through Forge+Hanging Gardens and a bit of luck with goodie huts. What you need to consider if you have this particular strategy in mind is to not build Stonehenge but only wonders leading to Great...
If you want to deny the AI a good spot close to you you can do it very early with any unit. The AI is very cowardly with attacking with his settler defender. Even if it is an archer vs a warrior or even a scout. If you see his settler on the way towards your preferred spot you can deny him that...
I think your cities will take too long to mature and that they won't have access to food before a border pop. You are not creative. Your first priority should be to build a second city one step south of #3 and get those resources connected. That gold will allow further expansion with maintained...
The ones complaining about the AI declaring war on you when friendly,, isn't this what you yourself do to the AI almost EVERY game? It's OK for you to stab the AI but not the other way around or?
kazapp wrote "Yes, you should consider at least DoWing Zara. This puts him into "at war" mode which should slow down his expansion."
It is useless to DOW Zara now to slow him down. It will only result in having five defending archers in his cap instead of two or three. That will lead to...
I think Sisiutil's copper city, if he gets there first, will come under heavy cultural pressure from Zara but also from Saladin who will likely snag the wheat and jumbos very soon. The AIs are very good at spreading religion so temples can be built early on. There is also a risk that Saladin...
