Thanks for all of the responses. I appreciate the help. I am not calculating the bonuses yet and have no interface at all but I do have something that will allow me to simulate the results of a stack attack on a stack of defenders. I attached the source code if anyone is interested. This is...
Thanks. I reread the combat mechanics a few times and realized that the amount of damage dealt is definitely static while the winner varies each time. Based on that I have something that will do BASIC combat. Once I figure out Enums I will start adding in the promotions and other fancy behavior.
I am trying to write a Java program that calculates the outcomes of a stack of units attacking a stack of defenders using a Monte Carlo type simulation (run combat multiple times and view the potential outcomes). I hope to get it to the point where you can see how different attack orders...
Here are the results of the asset checker. I bought all copies of everything as retail CDs. My OS is windows XP sp2. I am using HOF mod 3.03.001 and the 3.03 patch for BTS. I did also install an updated options file from this board somewhere but I don't have the exact link.
Civ4 installed...
I was just coming back to say that removing blue marble fixed the issue. Now I have a hard choice to make. Do I play with ugly terrain or for glory? GIven that I still have an asset issue I may just break down and play for fun.
I get the exact same issue. It loads correctly and then when I try to start a game it dies on me instantly. I guess I will have to wait until the next round of patches.
This is not correct. All cities produce 2 food, 1 hammer and 1 gold. The ONLY exception is a city founded on a plains hill which provides 2 hammers. I can count on one hand the number of times I have founded a city on a resource becuase working the resource is WAY more important than having...
In the whole economy (all civs) of a game at any given time there is X gold available for research. Each civ accumulates research at a specific rate each turn and through that they get techs. When tech trading occurs beakers are essentially created out of thin air. If I have alphabet worth...
I was thinking over the random events in BTS and it occurred to me that they have always been a part of the game since a mine can discover a resource in all versions of the game. In trying to figure out the net impact on a game I tried to calculate the Net Present Value of discovering a gold...
I think that this option should be allowed. THis option seems pretty unlike the other options that are banned.
Most importantly this option will significantly slow the game down not speed it up. To me this allows for a more enjoyable pace of game without the sheer mind numbing boringness...
500 MB is most of a CD. VCD's can get an hour of VHS quality video in the same space. QUicktime must be decompressed to specifically take up more space.
FOr the next 6-7 turns of this save if you just click enter to end the turn you will see Shaka's Scout runnign back and forth between 2 locations. The AI has clearly seem what there is to see and seems confuised about what to do. Eventually when my borders expand the unit is then stuck.
As...
I received a quest to build 9 libraries before entering the renaissance era. I set everything up and was about to complete it when I popped Astronomy from a hut (on immortal no less) which should begin the renaissance era. I saved, a game to reload later and grumbled a bit but continued...
doesn't this have to do with how things become obsolete in civ 4? I only played civ 3 a few times before upgrading (I got it for $5.00) but in that game I believe that if anyone discovered a tech it obsoleted the relevant things for everyone. Civ 4 seems different in that things obsolete when...
