I'd agree with the OP. It might be possible to argue that making a large colonial empire is still beneficial as you won't have much of a score if you get independence with only one city. But that misses out the fact that there are usually other European powers in the game.
In my last game I...
I wonder will you be able to actually build colonies are does colonies just refer to regular cities that are overseas/far away from the capitol. Call to Power may have gone rather over the top but I wouldn't mind a bit of sensible near future extrapolation as we already have space elevators and...
Military victories will probably give the higher score in practise because of all the population and territory one acquires. I'm wondering though with all else being equal (territory, population, wonders, tech and hence overall score) do different victory conditions give better score bonuses at...
Let's say it's 1950 and I have a base score of 5000. If I win a domination victory next turn will it give me a higher final score than if I win a cultural victory next turn? If so how do diplo and space race victories rank?
I find Communism every bit as disgusting as Fascism so see no reason why they shouldn't put in Hitler other than the fact the far left is still seen as more socially acceptable than the far right. Putting Stalin and Mao in isn't going to get half the protest that Hitler would so why should they...
I'm really hoping this is in too, it may not seem like a big deal but it can really help improve the ambience of the game. Anyone got the game yet and care to confirm or deny?
I live in a town named after a Dun, the remains of which are still in the local park so I'll probably feel inclined to play them for sentimental reasons. The thing is even more useless in the modern age acting now as a place for kids to drink copious amounts of cheap alcohol and have under-age...
"The expansion pack includes two brand new combat units and one new specialist unit for all civilizations. "
Does this mean another unique unit for every civilization? Very nice :)
On the Russian unique building I suspect they've made a mistake and that it will actually replace the lab...
Well I remember in civ3 the South American civs always seemed to show up in the game, far more than normal probability could account for. Maybe the guys at Firaxis just really, really like the Aztecs. :D
One thing I liked about civ 2&3 was the culture specific city graphics given to the different civs, in civ3 it carried on right up to the modern era. They seemed to have done away with this in Civ4 though making everyone look rather generically European in style.
Warlords screenshots...
I quite like terra maps as they produce a world a lot more natural looking and Earth-like than the continents option. What I'm not so keen on though is the colonization, is there any way to play a terra map so that some civs begin the game in the new world?
