Crossbows are very useful. Gattling guns are reduced to a more defensive roll and support, rather than (arguably) offensive like the crossbows. They get the defensive terrain bonus, and are meant to walk along...
Every nuke that hits a city will reduce its population, when the pop reaches 0 the city will be destroyed.

Sea beggars aren't game changers (which I prefer UU to be)
but they start with 2 promotions and can heal outside of friendly territory. They get a huge heads up on any kind of military other nations will have at that period of time

I acted as a "peacekeeper" nation as America in a civ game recently (I keep saying that... it was a good 3 weeks ago now...)
Sweden was getting stomped by Persia, so I "kept the peace" by declaring war on both and taking their cities as "they were too immature to use them properly"
