    Dealing with dirt starting positions

I play on regent now, but when I started playing civ3, I worked up the levels by playing the standard earth map, since I had a layout already in my mind. It helped me, for whatever reason.

    4 new maps!

Great job on the maps, they all look really nice. I wish I could play them all, but Huge and large disagree with my comp. I played 8 kingdoms and had a blast. Resources and terrain were placed nicely, though more rivers would have been nice. I hope you make more (standard size) maps sometime...

Pre-Sleep bump for the night. Hopefully you can answer my question tomorrow.

    Dealing with dirt starting positions

I play with what I get. Being a third world hellhole has it's own charm, don't you know? ;) Honestly, starting position(my capital) often influences how I go through the game. I have a paradise as a capital area? I'm going to go the enlightened civ route, going full blast on culture and...

Question...Do you play for score or do you play for fun?

What a silly question. :p Seriously, games are meant to be fun. The Civ series thankfully has never been an exception. It may have flaws, but it is still a damn fine game.

Which New Civ Would You Most Like to See?

Spain or Portugal. Can't have both without being too euro-centric. Incan, no SA Civ. Malaysian, for lack of an Oceanic civ. Mongols, obviously. Turkish. Ethopian. I don't know, but this seems like a nice list of its own.

I second the nukes. Don't let them get too comfy.

    CIV3 Flaws

Aces! Another "Rant and rave about the flaws of Civ 3" thread! You never can get tired of these, no siree! [plasma] Sure, there are problems with the game, and talking about them does help Firaxis. But *****ing nonstop about the game without offering any real solution is...

    4 new maps!

Before I download, could you tell me the sizes of the maps? I can't play on anything bigger than standard without the turns taking forever. Thanks for the help! :borg: All the mini-maps look really nice, btw.

    Atrocities

Nerve Staples are usually not needed with my choices/city building policies. Nerve Gas is my best friend. I equip it on everything except base defenders. The boost to attack and built in city destroying abilites work well in my political cleansing strategy. Planet Busters I use when I can...

    Should I buy SMAC?

I loved SMAC. Absoulte keeper of a game. That being said, you can do without the expansion most likely. The Aliens are disturbingly overpowered. If you play as them, you will win 100% of the time. You don't play as them, they will be your only struggle. You might dig it, but I couldn't.

Do you make up a fictional civilization or play with real ones?

I do this regularly. Since I don't play on earth maps normally anyway, why play with an Earthbound civilization? Sometimes I just rename cities just off the top of my head, but at times I'll get real creative with it.

A High-yeild explosive device needs help

Thanks, I'll look those up. I'm doing some basic research for the idea of my modern day korean war scenario. I'll be sure to post here when I make some progress. Thanks for the help.

A High-yeild explosive device needs help

Thanks, I'll check that out. I love good war scenarios, from 1600 on. Civil Wars/World Wars/Regional conflicts, anything like that. I'm not really into the colonization or infrastructure build-ups...I like non-stop conflict. World war 1 & 2, The Various balkan conflicts, Arab/Israeli wars...
