Thanks for posting, it's awesome to hear some people are still playing/enjoying this ancient mod! :scan::thumbsup:
Wow you're right & I've no idea how that happened; the Syndicate Colonies must have somehow gotten lost in the shuffle of patches trying to update various other things! :borg: I...
Thanks. On loading the save file to try to reproduce that on my machine, surprisingly I did not encounter any error and was able to land the Visionary Researcher and settle him in New Tokyo ok, so I wasn't able to figure out what may have went wrong.
Since I'm not a programmer by training and...
Thanks very much all; it's very cool to see so many people still playing and enjoying this old mod of a much older game! :borg:
Over New Years, I'd tracked down some bugs in older versions that were due to mislinking in NIF graphics files, and uploaded an updated version of the mod...
Thanks for checking in! Due to new computers over the years I only have access to the most current version on the web, though anyone can feel free to upload any version they might have. (TBH due to my having no modding knowledge when starting, much earlier versions were not very stable/playable...
Thanks for posting! Some browsers such as Google Chrome appear to be blocking the weplayciv download site, but I was still able to download using Microsoft Edge and the link in the top post (http://www.weplayciv.com/forums/downloads/Colonization_2071.zip) :borg::cool:
Hello @The_J,
Thanks for your work on this site (and of course also the fantastic Mars Now!) :borg::scan::thumbsup:
For the main database entry for Colonization 2071 (https://forums.civfanatics.com/resources/colonization-2071.15104/), I updated the post to guide players to the CivFanatics...
Well if you really have a taste for some New World pig meat here is a good excuse hehe :mischief: :goodjob:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peccary
edit: in German it looks like this is called the Nabelschweine or "navel pig"; I wonder why that is?https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nabelschweine
Those are good comments Ray and Flavius and I largely agree.
I also enjoyed Age of Wonders games for awhile, but felt they went too far in making the game primarily about tactical combat with much less depth in the "grand strategy" economic and sociopolitical aspects of empire building and...
Those look good, how did you accomplish the different appearances of water (post 270)?
In 2071, to let Space Terrain be visible I had to turn water off entirely in TerrainSettings.xml - I'd tried to find ways to allow oceans on planets as well as alternate "sea terrains" like the Deep Desert...
Nice, how did you do that? (is it a GameOption multiplying ArtDefs size tag by a fixed multiplier?) I remember it being a huge headache to have to add and rescale nifs for 2071 because of the need to reload the mod to view after every XML edit and gradually scale up/down to try to make it look...
Peace everyone - it's understandably hard to get large groups to agree about everything, sometimes all you can do is try to spread some peace and love when possible lol :king:
As one potential thought for a workaround if there's a big divide about this, I remember there is a bool tag in...
Those are really good points, I'd also thought about this issue of how to make movement penalties be strategically more interesting when thinking up a (probably too weird :p) idea for a mod in a unique cyberpunk/cyberspace setting inspired by William Gibson as mentioned in the old thread below...
That sounds like a worthwhile feature, and it's true it doesn't seem very feasible to mod movement advantage directionally.
FYI as a language note, in modern English usage the word "stream" when used for bodies of water usually refers to a very small brook (Bach) or small tributary of an inland...
Thanks Ray, hope you are well & glad you're enjoying modding!
I've thought about modding sometimes and intermittently continued to plan out balancing and design issues for a potential future new version of 2071; if interested you can look at the tabs of the design document in the link in my...
