That does not allow you to play vanilla 1.29f, which you may want to do (And is what OP asked about)

As a customer, I don't care about the difficulties, costs, and struggles inherent in the industry. I can guarantee you, that no corporation that publishes video games cares about mine.
I doubt it will be changed. It is fundamental to the design of the game. The game launched pretty successfully. They can't just completely rework the game to appeal to grognards at the expense of all of the people who bought and enjoyed it.
Pretty much every other civilization game hewed to Sid Meier's original concept - of taking a civilization from 4000BC to the end of the game and telling your own story. That's not what Civ 7 seems to be, and if you take that away, I mean I guess it's the best new 4X game. But the old 4X games...
Just noticed this too while going back to see what vanilla 1.29f is like, searched for a solution and found this thread. I installed it from my Chronicles CD, and the extra newline is there in labels.txt.
It looks like civ3 complete does have this error also. But not the steam version of civ3...
If it was a toggle-able option, or something that you could prevent with certain gameplay decisions, I would absolutely buy Civ 7. Not making it optional is extremely user hostile for a series like this.
