I'd say the only thing that would get me pissed off these days, as far as games are concerned, are bugs the result of a game developer attempting to "optimize" (aka cutting features) to get the game running on obsolete computers.

Here's a suggestion, and a fairly easy one to implement:
Make a small mod where the only rule change is the enabling of Unit Automation for all units. Play like normal, but if you wish to cheat as the AI does, you'd have to manually hit the "Automate" button and let the AI take over control...
I've found that if I switch to task manager and threaten it with shutting down, it mysteriously starts working again. But that may simply be that it's finished trying to cycle through animations that won't play by the time that task manager loads up.
