Lag at end of turn

I am using the 1.21 patch, and the problem started after I installed the patch, though not right away.

Large map, year 1980 or so, currently in a decent size war, six total civs. The problem is that as soon as I have made moves will all of my active units, and I get the prompt to move to the next turn, I cannot make any other moves, due to the enormous amount of lag. Example, if I click on a unit, it takes about 45 secs to bring up the menu, and another 45 seconds to do anything, and if I want to scroll the screen, forget it.

Is this just lag due to the map size and activity, or is there something else going on with this patch that is making this happen?

Let me see if I understand you... Are you saying that you are trying to access menus and advisor screens during the AI turn? I never tried to do it.

But the map size and activity and the newest patch are all in fault here too. :)
 
I have the same problem. The game is having extreme difficulty in animating the end-of-turn animation in the lower right along with all the other units in the game, regardless of whether or not they are being hidden by the fog of war. It doesn't occur in the beginning of the game simply because there aren't that many units around.

I've found that if that thing lights up, I just whack the Enter button and wait until I have built a unit before going at the menus, because at that point, none of the other units on the map are animated and the menus respond fine.

I should also mention that upgrading to the latest beta Detonator drivers (v29.40) seems to have cleared up that problem for me.
