I do have a computer with high-end graphics...and it still delays with all graphics set to the lowest they go :(. The frame rate is perfectly smooth in the the early game but I still get the delay. It feels more like an intentional timer than a graphics lag issue.
That's not what I'm arguing at all. Personally, I hated infinite city sprawl. I much prefer the styel of IV in that regard. I also like the direction the AI has gone, but it hasn't gone enough. What I miss is that nostalgic feel Civ II gave that I had even after I had owned it only for a few...
The Inca never had a written language. Stone tools and weapons are usually superior in quality to metal weapons, until you get to steel and brass (iron can be exceptionally difficult to work with). None of these things necessarily make a civilization better, and you can have civilization without...
Yeah, it was my first time playing Catherine...or Epic speed...or with Smartmap. Not that I'm complaining about massive amounts of techs , it just feels a little unfair.
I just wanted to say...
Thank you!!!
This script has saved the game for me. The maps are so much more interesting than before. I first was discussed with the amount of forests, until I realized that the wilderness feeling it gave was amazing. I have found a configuration that spaces...
I just started my first ever game playing Catherine, on Epic speed, with the Smartmap mod. It seems that about 50% of the goodie huts I pop have a free technology. It's 3130 and I already have 9 technologies. Another 10-20% give me another scout! My horde of scouts is also beating back every...
I was just about to post this exact same thing!
To be fair, Civ IV is a great game. It's just not the game I wanted it to be. I remember playing my first game of Civilization I way way back when I was only 6 or 7 years old when I found it sitting on a shelf at home. My mom warned me that it...
(To your first reply.) Yeah...that was supposed to be that size 25 city :( (I've stopped playing it now so I don't remember which one). Unfortunately, the production was so low in it I found it more useful for building missionaries than GP things.
Rome was that way even before I declared war...
This was my first serious attempt at Monarch using some tips gathered here and I was hoping for some feedback. More importantly, it was my first serious attempt at city specialization and cutting back my builder tendencies.
My own major criticism is that I wasn't playing to win. I was simply...
I've come to realize that I'm not nearly aggressive enough to get by on the higher difficulty levels. I can get by just fine, but it's never enough to push me over the edge to win. (Most of the time I get bored of being behind at 1200 AD and quit.)
On my last game I tried taking a more...
Then I don't understand why I'm having this problem. I'm running with 1024 MB of ram right now, and I just reformatted my computer last week (all drivers are updated). It doesn't seem to be related to graphics or computing power at all.
I remember moving units in Civilization 2. When you moved a unit it would immediately move to the next unit available. This has been driving me absolutely insane in Civ 4: the unit you just move stays selected for about half a second afterwards. Turning on Quick Movement helped a little but not...
I recently got Civ 4, and after having some fun learning it, it's starting to become impossible for me to keep interest in my games past 1000 AD. I'm pretty sure it has to do with my choice of settings. The first thing I know I need to do is move up to Monarch (once I got used to the game I...
