A typical 'rate my game please'

This was my first serious attempt at Monarch using some tips gathered here and I was hoping for some feedback. More importantly, it was my first serious attempt at city specialization and cutting back my builder tendencies.

My own major criticism is that I wasn't playing to win. I was simply playing to keep pace with the AI. This worked pretty well on my own continent, but I stopped the game here when I realized there was no way to deal with HC and Montezuma over in the New World. I also stopped because the game was just getting boring. I set out to conquer France at the end...but then all my troops got stuck in one lone pocket of territory and I didn't feel ready to conquer Mansa too . That's my other main criticism. I sucked at the wars big time, even though I had plenty of troops.

Somehow I pulled out a CS slingshot without even trying, so I'll attribute that to luck more than anything else. What I really want to know is what's up with Caesar. Despite good relations with him, he really doesn't like me that much. After everyone but Mansa on my continent converted away from Confucianism, I accepted Caesar's demand to convert to Christianity in hopes of approving relations (I founded it anyway :)). He still doesn't want to trade with me, and I'd really like to know why.

You seem to be working on a good base. You're at war with Louis but he is isolated on an island that has more advantages for you in an invasion. Your going to keep digging a bigger hole with your money though. I would suggest turning one city into a super specialist farm and crank out great merchants or great prophets to get more gold per turn. This way you can afford a much larger army and expand at the same time.

looking more closely france is all flat land and thats just sucks. I'd go in with 4 knights and 8 macemen and a 3 cannons to bombard cities. Have 2 knights with all cannons and 3 or 4 macemen to attack a single city and the rest ahead of your attack to scout, pillage and misdirect the AI forces. Try to land in an area were the french would have to send the troops down a bottle neck to get to you.

As for Ceasar, i didnt check the status as to how he felt about louis but i think it might be pleased or friendly with him and as long as you are at war with his buddy he wont trade with you. That's my opinion about that. I'd watch him closely.

(To your first reply.) Yeah...that was supposed to be that size 25 city :( (I've stopped playing it now so I don't remember which one). Unfortunately, the production was so low in it I found it more useful for building missionaries than GP things.

Rome was that way even before I declared war on Louis, and we were pretty good friends before that.

What's memphis supposed to be doing?

It looks like it was intended to be a GP farm, judging from all the food you've generated there, but no Epic?

My best guess is that you are planning to pop rush the Manhatten Project. :)

Edit: answered above. Never mind
