This was my first serious attempt at Monarch using some tips gathered here and I was hoping for some feedback. More importantly, it was my first serious attempt at city specialization and cutting back my builder tendencies.
My own major criticism is that I wasn't playing to win. I was simply playing to keep pace with the AI. This worked pretty well on my own continent, but I stopped the game here when I realized there was no way to deal with HC and Montezuma over in the New World. I also stopped because the game was just getting boring. I set out to conquer France at the end...but then all my troops got stuck in one lone pocket of territory and I didn't feel ready to conquer Mansa too
. That's my other main criticism. I sucked at the wars big time, even though I had plenty of troops.
Somehow I pulled out a CS slingshot without even trying, so I'll attribute that to luck more than anything else. What I really want to know is what's up with Caesar. Despite good relations with him, he really doesn't like me that much. After everyone but Mansa on my continent converted away from Confucianism, I accepted Caesar's demand to convert to Christianity in hopes of approving relations (I founded it anyway
). He still doesn't want to trade with me, and I'd really like to know why.
