    Theme song idea

The Dire Straits song speaks of exploration, settlement, growth, and eventual blight/decline, but ends on a brighter note, implying enduring hope for the future. If a future game introduced the concept of Rust Belt style decline in some regions as an economic hazard, such a theme would...

    One hundred Steam achievements...

New achievement - "Three Musketeers", earned by defeating an enemy unit with a 'musketeer' unit while in flanking bonus with two other 'musketeer' units. "ALL FOR ONE, AND ONE FOR ALL!" ;)

    Theme song idea

This has likely been covered, probably exhaustively, but I can't find the thread, so I started a new one. The choice for main theme is always a big deal when it comes to new versions of our favorite game. After a recent listen, I thought of a candidate... 'Telegraph Road' - Dire Straits...

Best Number of Civs and City States per Map Size?

A lot of you guys like a crowded map. My preference for quite some time now, is a huge map with six civs including me, and six city-states. One of the downsides - it seems to provoke city-spamming from some AI civs.

    One hundred Steam achievements...

UPDATE: I've earned three more achievements since the hundreth - 'Silent No More', which is the victory achievement for William of Orange, 'Arab Trader', trading a luxury item earned in a city with an Arabian Bazaar, and 'Built in (Almost) A Day', which is building a Wonder in a city with three...

    One hundred Steam achievements...

... finally. I've been stuck at ninety-nine achievements since last Christmas. I finally broke the slump with 'Capture Of Brielle'. It's the one gained when a Spanish coastal city is captured by a Dutch Sea Beggar. A clever nod to history, that one. BTW, Sea Beggars are now one of my...

    Quick Questions and Answers

Gajah Mada's main buff is called "Spice Islanders". When Indo settles the first time in a continent away from the one housing the capitol, they automatically receive 2 units of a unique Luxury Item - one of three spices unique to Indonesia. I'm looking for input from anybody who's played Gajah...

City States Gifted me a Merchant of Venice

Playing further into the above game, I got gifted another Merchant of Venice. My cup runneth over. If I wasn't vying for a diplomatic victory, I would definitely get to puppeting CS's. :borg:

City States Gifted me a Merchant of Venice

Tried my MOV on a city-state already puppeted by Venice, didn't work. I imagine the coding considers that territory Venetian turf and outside the influence of my third-party MOV. So I moved on to the nearest city-state from there, and got a TON of GP and influence points. OP? Maybe.

City States Gifted me a Merchant of Venice

I was gifted a Merchant of Venice by a city state, and I'm anxious to put him to good use. Can I use him to puppet a city-state that's already been puppeted by Venice? I'll report back, regardless.

How long does your average Civ5 session take? +help

I try to keep my sessions down to about 2 hours max, my laptop tends to heat up after a while, especially in the latter turns of a given game. Does anybody keep a turn cap on their games? I keep mine capped at 500 turns.

    Netherlands AI - weird trade

The game considers GP for luxury items a downgrade? I tend to think the opposite i.e. 'cash on the barrel'. For instance, I just renewed a deal with Harun Al Rashid where he offered 108 GP up front plus 4 GP per turn for 20 turns in return for my surplus unit of silver. Luxury...

    Netherlands AI - weird trade

I'm playing Gajah Mada in a game heavy with AI's that are strong in economics, the Netherlands among them. William I offered GP for Incense, but I noticed he had surplus wine - 3 units worth. I counter-offered to trade 1-for-1 my incense for his wine, and he refused! I wound up settling for...

What's your rarest Steam Civ5 Achievement?

I recently topped my rarest achievement with "Vote for Pedro " - 0.7% achievement rate (won by scoring a diplomatic victory as Pedro II of Brazil) . Love the Napoleon Dynamite reference. :)

Do you plan on playing Civ5 after Civ6 comes out?

I'm waiting a couple of years before buying Civ VI, to let a few updates and so forth build up. In the meantime (naturally) I'll be racking up the game hours on V.
