    City Name Generator [Civ VI]

-atum is a suffix used to create a noun from a verb. -acum is a suffix in latinized forms of certain early Celtic place names, the meaning should be a sort of locative or a noun created from another word adding a "place of" meaning. I love this mod, and have for a long time considered making...

    turn reminder / alarm clock?

Should be a fairly easy mod to make. But many of these events are already notified in the game, but maybe a more overt way is better. Example could be to set a notification that when trade route capacity increases, add as well if the player has inactive or sleeping traders.

Is there any strategic value to naval melee units?

Yes, land units embarked have their issues, but having them have also the advantage if you want to continue inland, and there naval units are somewhat limited! It is of course different strategies and one is not necessary wronger or better than the other.

Is there any strategic value to naval melee units?

Yes of course, melee is meaning effectively hand to hand fight, but also any brawl or mob created from units. But "naval melee" disconnects Civilization from tactics from the real world. The vikings are probably the last to do anything resembling a "melee" fight in their naval tactics. One could...

Is there any strategic value to naval melee units?

Personally I find the mere concept of "naval melee" stupid. Melee in naval warfare usually means boarding or ramming. While those techniques were effective before the introduction of heavier ranged weapons, afterward ships usually employed both ranged weaponry and option for boarding. Rarely...

Do you wipe out Civs or Keep them in Civ 6?

Total takeover. But I'm easily bought, for a few hundred gold per turn and a dozen cities and resources I do hit the make peace button.

    Unexpected city names

Yes, I think that changed closer to the BCE/CE shift, maybe when Greece was part of the Roman Empire. And when talking about city states, several are named after the modern name of the excavation sites, not their original names. Nan Madol is also a feature name, and not the name of the city proper.

    Unexpected city names

I don't disagree that some renaming of cities according to who owns it is a bad idea, but an implementation had to be more advanced than what you initially suggested. And as Civilization as a game pans out in a relative short timeframe, renaming cities often may be confusing. But as an option is...

    Unexpected city names

I am digressing now, but it is not uniquely for English. Laziness, pronunciation-difficulties, dominance and misunderstandings have lead to lot of the names we have in use today. A prime example would be how that Native Americans are named after the South-Asian river Sindhū in contemporary...

    Unexpected city names

Yes that is all well and good. I imagine you don't mean the German cities in (oral) "German", but rather how it is written in "Hochdeutsch". Civilization is mostly a game where you read the name, and don't need to pronounce them so it may not matter much. The issue will be that most...

    Unexpected city names

The question would not be how it may sound to a German-speaker, but how a city name should be localized in a game when the localization language is English. How are umlauts in English orthography? Some larger and famous place names are assimilated, like Munich and Brussels. Some are not. Some...

    Unexpected city names

Historically when other countries occupies cities, they tend to either rename them entirely (very often in honor of some king, relation or other fame), keep the current name (but adapt it to their own language), or use the name they themselves have used historically. To be honest "Los Beijing"...

    Really Advanced Setup Lite

You have smart quotation turned on. Go to System Preferences->Keyboard->Text and turn off or modify the "Use smart quotes and dashes" setting. And/or in TextEdit go to Preferences>New document and at the bottom turn off smart quotation.

    AutoPlay

I am working on a entire different code, and will make a proper release at some point, but I made also a mod of this mod. :) Differences are in text which should now be completely localized ( by using the in game locales, which made some of the help text a bit finicky), and some more...

    Lua Objects

I am figuring out modding for myself, and made notes of most of the events, because I want to make a new autoplay mod where more detailed info will be available throughout the "set". I thought I could share it, I am not sure how many are already known, and I have not made any effort to make...
